Esperanza Spalding at BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival
Esperanza Spalding in Prospect Park in 2017 (more by Stephanie Augello)

What's going on Wednesday?

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Esperanza Spalding @ Town Hall
Long-running jazz bassist and singer Esperanza Spalding has crossed over into non-jazz before, but never as much as she did on this year’s 12 Little Spells, which is a fantastic album of ambient, experimental pop songs that should appeal to her longtime fans and new ones alike. She’s currently playing the 12 Little Spells material on this tour.

Flatbush Zombies @ Elsewhere Hall
Crazed Brooklyn rap trio Flatbush Zombies returned this year with their very fun new album Vacation In Hell, and as good as the album is, their wild live show is even better. They’re getting in the holiday spirit with this hometown holiday show.

Curls (ex-Girls), Fletcher C. Johnson @ Elsewhere Zone One
Meanwhile, over in Zone One, it’s the NYC live debut of Curls, which is the new band from Christopher Owens (of Girls).

Bomba Estereo, Reyna Tropical @ Terminal 5
Cumbia band Bomba Estereo are increasingly popular with non-cumbia audiences (they toured with Arcade Fire last year), and it’s easy to see just how popular they are: this huge NYC show is sold out.

Resistance Revival Chorus w/ Natalie Merchant @ Knitting Factory
Resistance Revival Chorus is playing a holiday show in Brooklyn tonight, and making this one extra exciting, they’ll be joined by the unmistakable pipes of Natalie Merchant.

Jenny Slate @ Murmrr Theatre
Former Brooklynite and one-third of Big Terrific, Jenny Slate returns to her old stomping grounds for this night of standup.

Bridget Everett & The Tender Moments @ Joe’s Pub
The hilarious and unexpurgated Bridget Everett is back at Joe’s Pub with The Tender Moments, with perhaps a little holiday flair.

Springsteen on Broadway
After a year of sold-out shows at The Walter Kerr Theater, The Boss will wrap up “Springsteen on Broadway” on Saturday. For those who didn’t manage to score a ticket (or didn’t want to spend the money on them) his intimate show is coming to Netflix as a concert special on Sunday.

For all of tonight’s shows, and tomorrow’s, check out our NYC concert calendar.
