Belle and Sebastian at Forest Hills Stadium
Belle & Sebastian at Forest Hills Stadium in 2018 (more by Amanda Hatfield)

What's going on Wednesday?

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Belle & Sebastian, Barrie @ Brooklyn Steel
Belle & Sebastian were once shy and bookish but can now easily command a stage in front of thousands, all while keeping that winsome charm.

Palehound, Arthur Moon @ Elsewhere
Indie rockers Palehound recently released their third album Black Friday on Polyvinyl, and they’re going to open for Big Thief on tour later this year, but first they’ll play this headlining one-off show in Brooklyn.

Earth Wind & Fire @ Beacon Theatre
Funk legends Earth Wind & Fire only have a few classic-lineup members left, but their live shows are still super fun and they bring the hits.

Glue, T.A.Z., Dollhouse @ Brooklyn Bazaar
Texas hardcore band Glue are back in NYC, and these guys always put on a totally wild show so it’s worth taking this chance to see them.

Caleb Giles, Pink Siifu, Syl, Ted Kamal @ Baby’s All Right
Rapper Caleb Giles (who also plays sax in Standing on the Corner) is releasing his new album Under the Shade on July 24 via a self-release, and tonight he celebrates it with this hometown show. Pink Siifu, who guests on Caleb’s new single, provides direct support.

Kari Faux, Easy Life, Jean Deaux @ Villain
Little Rock, Arkansas rapper continues to rise and change up her style, and this year’s Cry 4 Help EP is very good.

Lydia Lunch with Tim Dahl (“Verbal Burlesque”), Matt Nelson, Michael Foster @ Berlin
No wave legend Lydia Lunch teams with frequent collaborator and Child Abuse member Tim Dahl for this “Verbal Burlesque” show, which is billed as “spoken word meets psychedelic funk.” Should get crazy.

Billy Martin, Shahzad Ismaily, Shanir Ezra Blumenkranz, Sylvian Leroux @ The Sultan Room at The Turk’s Inn
Billy Martin of Medeski Martin & Wood is in residency at new venue The Sultan Room at Turk’s Inn and tonight’s show has him joined by the great Shahzad Ismaily and others.

Mike Birbiglia @ Cherry Lane Theatre
Mike Birbiglia regularly tests out new material with “Working it Out” shows that are often last-minute gigs at tiny clubs like Brooklyn’s Union Hall. This summer, Mike will be “Working it Out” at a residency at Manhattan’s Cherry Lane Theatre that continues tonight and runs through August 15.

Dave Chappelle @ Lunt Fontanne Theatre
Dave Chappelle is making his Broadway debut with ten shows at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre that run through July 20. As is usually the case at Chappelle shows, no phones.

Syd Straw @ Mercury Lounge
She played in Golden Palominos, made records with Michael Stipe, and appeared in The Adventures of Pete & Pete — Syd Straw hasn’t made a record in over a decade but is still a charmer live.

The Psychedelic Furs, James @ Paramount Theatre
A double header of alt-rock with loads of hits from “Love My Way” to “Laid.”
