Lost Weekend 2 at Cheer Up Charlies - Thursday

What's going on Wednesday?

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Okkervil River, Lip Talk @ City Winery (two shows)
Last year, Okkervil River were very busy supporting their solid new album In the Rainbow Rain, and this year, they’re doing a tour with a stripped-down trio lineup, “where they’ll be playing stretched-out and often highly spontaneous requests-only shows in intimate listening-room venues.”

The Chats, Gnarcissists, Cutie @ Brooklyn Bowl
Australian teenage punks The Chats have a raw, shouty sound that’s akin to Sleaford Mods or IDLES (who have covered their single “Smoko“). Viral sensations via YouTube, they count Josh Homme and Dave Grohl as fans.

Yuna, Skylar Stecker @ Sony Hall
Malaysian pop/R&B singer Yuna recently released her new album Rouge (featuring Tyler the Creator, Little Simz, and more), and tonight her tour supporting it hits NYC.

The Gotobeds, Honey Radar @ Union Pool
Pittsburgh smartass punks matured just a little on this year’s great, guest-filled Debt Begins at 30. Live is always the best way to see them and spirits should be high for this release show with Philly low-fi mavens Honey Radar.

Aimee Mann, Jonathan Coulton @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
Aimee Mann hasn’t dropped a new album in a couple years so hopefully we’ll get some news on that front tonight at this show with Ask Me Another and The Good Fight songwriter Jonathan Coulton.

Kevin Seconds, Sammy Kay, Matty Carlock @ Asbury Park Brewery
While hardcore legends 7Seconds sadly broke up last year, frontman Kevin Seconds has remained active as a solo artist and he’s now gearing up to tour the East Coast this July. The tour is called “I’ve Come For AVAIL,” because Kevin is literally using the trip as an opportunity to see AVAIL in Richmond.

Tijuana Panthers, together PANGEA, Ultra Q @ Elsewhere Hall
It’s a double bill of party-friendly California garage rock and punk.

Mike Birbiglia @ Cherry Lane Theatre
Mike Birbiglia regularly tests out new material with “Working it Out” shows that are often last-minute gigs at tiny clubs like Brooklyn’s Union Hall. This summer, Mike will be “Working it Out” at a residency at Manhattan’s Cherry Lane Theatre that continues tonight and runs through August 15.

Dave Chappelle @ Lunt Fontanne Theatre
Dave Chappelle hasn’t toned things down for his Broadway debut, which runs through July 20. As is usually the case at Chappelle shows, no phones.

The Funs, Billy Woods, Privacy Issues @ Alphaville
Chicago noisy pop band The Funs are back in NYC tonight, and making this show extra appealing is underground rapper Billy Woods, whose Hiding Places is one of the year’s best rap albums.

Carly Rae Jepsen, Mansionair @ Hammerstein Ballroom
“Call Me Maybe” star turned critical darling Carly Rae Jepsen is still going strong, and this year she’s riding high off her new album Dedicated, which she’s supporting on this tour.
