You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Robert Glasper: Tribute to Roy Hargrove @ Blue Note (two shows)
Robert Glasper continues his month-long residency at the Blue Note Jazz Club, and tonight’s shows are part of a run of Roy Hargrove tributes with Terrace Martin, Keyon Harrold, Marcus Strickland, Ben Williams, Justin Tyson, Elena Pinderhughes, and Renea Neufville. Glasper is also known for bringing out other surprise guests at these shows… let’s see if he does tonight.

The Well, Heavy Temple, Sun Voyager, Astrometer @ Saint Vitus
Austin’s The Well recently released their new album Death and Consolation, which sees them taking their heavy psych revival into new territory without abandoning the kind of fuzzed-out riffage that won fans over in the first place.

David Byrne’s American Utopia @ Hudson Theatre
David Byrne has retooled his acclaimed “untethered” 2018 for the Broadway stage and while the setlist and arrangements are much like what they were on his tour, songs are now threaded together with new monologues from Byrne, making for a much more theatrical experience.

Jacques Greene @ National Sawdust
Dance music artist Jacques Greene just released new album Dawn Chorus that features appearances/production from Julianna Barwick, Joel Ford, Clams Casino, Cadence Weapon, Hannibal composer Brian Reitzell, cellist Oliver Coates, Ebhoni, Rochelle Jordan and more. He celebrates that record tonight.

Shura, Hannah Cohen @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
UK alt-pop artist Shura is on our side of the Atlantic, supporting her recently-released sophomore album Forevher, which came out on Secretly Canadian (following her major label 2016 debut album). There’s also solid local support from Hannah Cohen tonight.

Alessia Cara, Ryland James @ PlayStation Theater
Once the buzzed-about singer with the promising single “Here,” Alessia Cara is now a true star and a major hitmaker, and she returns to NYC for a Playstation Theater show tonight.

Kevin Gates, YK Osiris, Rod Wave, SDoT Fresh @ Terminal 5
Fresh off releasing his new album I’m Him, Baton Rouge rapper Kevin Gates brings his tour to NYC.

Lil Tecca, Young M.A, Pop Smoke, SHENSEEA, Calboy @ Villain
Power 105.1’s Powerhouse is at Prudential Center on Saturday, but first there’s this pre-show in Brooklyn with a pretty solid lineup of its own.

LAPeCHE, Yoko Forever, Bint @ The Kingsland
LAPêCHE (who are fronted by singer/songwriter Krista Holly Diem and feature members of Small Brown Bike and Strikeforce Diablo) toured earlier this year with Jawbox and have collaborated with Jawbox frontman J Robbins, and tonight they play a headlining show.

DYGL, Future Punx, Straw Pipes @ ALPHAVILLE
Poppy Japanese garage rock band DYGL (“dayglo”) headline this show that also has nu wavers Future Punx on the bill.

Swervedriver, Milly @ The Saint
Shoegaze greats Swervedriver released the terrific Future Ruins earlier this year, which is their best album since Ejector Seat Reservation. They’ve still got it.

Ophira Eisenberg, Adira Amram, Matthew Holtzclaw, Joyelle Johnson, Becky Yamamoto @ Union Hall
Ophira Eisenberg and Adria Amram host this “awesome variety show with comedy, music, magic and more.”

Cigarettes After Sex @ Webster Hall
Moody dreampop band Cigarettes After Sex, who scored a viral hit with “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby,” are finally back with their second album this week and tonight is the first of two NYC shows.
