The Hold Steady’s annual holiday show run at Brooklyn Bowl begins tonight. There’s a different opener every night, and tonight it’s power pop/alt-rock vets The Figgs.
TU Dance & Bon Iver (Come Through) @ Kings Theatre
Bon Iver released their new album and played Barclays Center this year, and they’re also staying busy with their Come Through show, a collaboration with dance company TU Dance. They’re doing that show at Kings Theatre tonight and tomorrow.
Cher, Nile Rodgers & CHIC @ Madison Square Garden
Cher and CHIC have been bringing the hits to arenas around North America all year, and they’re back in NYC for two MSG shows this week, this being night two.
The Rapture, Tandem Jump, Barbie Bertisch, Paul Raffaele @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
Oughts-era Brooklyn dancerock vets The Rapture are continuing to play shows after reforming early in the year and this is the second of two Music Hall shows this week.
Young Guv, Goodbye Honolulu, Cassie Ramone, Materialistics @ ALPHAVILLE
When not making forward-thinking punk with Fucked Up, guitarist Ben Cook makes crunchy power-pop as Young Guv. Tonight’s a double-dose of Canada, with Selena Gomez faves Goodbye Honolulu, as well as Vivian Girls’ Cassie Ramone and more.
Molly Burch @ The Bell House
Maker of ethereal country music, Molly Burch celebrates the holidays and her new holiday album, with this Christmas party featuring John Early and Peter Smith.
Mo Rocca, Peter Grosz (Yum’s The Word) @ (le) poisson rouge
Onetime Daily Show correspondent Mo Rocca is among the guests at this live taping of podcast Yum’s the Word.
Hoops, Sedona, Purr @ The Dance
Indiana indie rock band Hoops released their debut album Routines in 2017 and then called it quits. They’re back and tonight’s their first show since the hiatus.
Bela Fleck & the Flecktones @ Town Hall
The original lineup of Béla Fleck & The Flecktones -– banjoist Béla Fleck, Howard Levy on piano and harmonica, percussionist/drumitarist Future Man and bassist Victor Wooten -– celebrate their 30th anniversary tonight.
The Dirty Nil, Single Mothers, Lost in Society @ Asbury Park Brewery
Canadian punk bands The Dirty Nil and Single Mothers both put on killer, in-your-face live shows and tonight should be no different.
Madison McFerrin, Melanie Charles, James Tillman @ Baby’s All Right
Rising neo-soul and a cappella singer Madison McFerrin releases her You + I EP today and celebrates at Baby’s tonight.
Cashmere Cat, Zora Jones & Sinjin Hawke @ Webster Hall
Producer/DJ Cashmere Cat’s shows are always a total party, and tonight he brings his tour behind his new album Princess Catgirl to NYC.
Walter Lure and the Waldos, The Bowery Boys, Gotham Rockets, Sick Walt @ The Bowery Electric
Punk legend Walter Lure was in Johnny Thunders & the Heartbreakers and he remains very active with his own band The Waldos today.
Sharkmuffin, Bueno, Odetta Hartman, Greem Jellyfish, Wallet @ Trans-Pecos
Tonight’s show is a both a tribute to Brooklyn musician Mark Fletcher (who died earlier this year) and also a benefit for the Mark Fletcher Studio. The night includes all-star jam with members of Mark’s bands—sham-poo, Shapes, Stringer, Zomber, and Newport Reds.
