Milemarker at Wrecking Ball Festival 2016 - Saturday
Milemarker at Wrecking Ball Festival 2016 (more by Amanda Hatfield)

What's going on Wednesday?

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Milemarker, Pop. 1280, Robes @ Shea Stadium
Reunited synthpunk/post-hardcore vets Milemarker are about to release their first album in over a decade, and it picks up right where they left off. Recent live shows have been great, and NYC gets two chances to see them this week.

Xeno & Oaklander, Public Memory, Jahiliyya Fields, Second Still @ Baby’s All Right
Consistently great makers of synth goth, Xeno & Oaklander grace Brooklyn with another of their addictive live sets tonight.

Cayetana, Weaves @ Mercury Lounge
Philly’s Cayetana came out swinging with their great 2014 indie-punk debut Nervous Like Me, and their live shows are always a good time. This is their first of two NYC shows with Toronto “bent-pop” band Weaves.

Weaves @ Rough Trade
Before their Mercury Lounge show, Weaves will play a free, stripped-down set at Rough Trade in Williamsburg. 6 PM.

The Hairs, Fieldings, Old Monk, Dead Painters @ Sunnyvale
The Hairs released the excellent While, I Hated Life, Barbarian earlier this summer, full of self-effacing humor and catchy melodies. Catch them tonight with their Old Flame labelmates Old Monk.

CRX (members of The Strokes / Guards), Hideout @ Mercury Lounge
Strokes guitarist Nick Valensi, Richie Follin of Guards and others formed the new band CRX recently. While the only music they’ve released so far is a short clip of a distorted guitar riff, the lineup is enough to at least be curious. Hear more CRX live tonight.

Nels Cline @ The Stone (2 sets)
Wilco guitarist Nels Cline is in residency at East Village club The Stone all week. The early show tonight is with Marc Ribot.

Aristophanes, Prelow @ Elvis Guesthouse
Taiwanese rapper Aristophanes, who many people on this side of the world were introduced to when Grimes put her on her album, has her own good music too, and returns to NYC tonight.

Jo Firestone, Joe Perra, Special Guests @ Union Hall
Part of the Brooklyn Comedy Festival, this show is a “once in a lifetime opportunity to see exciting, cutting-edge, PREMIUM comedy in one hour’s time for a very low cost.” In this case, Joe Firestone, Joe Perra and maybe some special guests.

RISK! ft. Kevin Allison @ Bell House
Onetime The State member Kevin Allison hosts this live taping of his RISK! podcast where “people tell true stories they never thought they’d dare to share in public.” Tonight’s sharers include Mark Redmond, Giulia Rozzi, Jamie Brickhouse, Victor Varnado, Mary Archbold, and more. Also part of the Brooklyn Comedy Fest.

Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally @ Beacon Theater
In love and laughs, real life couple Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally bring their variety show “Summer of 69: No Apostrophe” to NYC.
