What's going on Wednesday?

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Willful Boys, Faux Ferocious, Degreaser @ ALPHAVILLE.
If you like your punk rock garagey and loud, look no further than this show featuring two Aussie expat bands (Willful Boys, Degreaser) and Nashville’s Faux Ferocious.

Gallant, Eryn Allen Kane @ Bowery Ballroom
Gallant, who first caught our ear back in 2013 and has since covered Prince and Drake with Sufjan Stevens and continues to rise. This is his second of two NYC shows this week.

Oberhofer, Zuli, TK The Architect, Black Jeans @ Brooklyn Bowl
We’re hoping Oberhofer play their cover of “Pure Imagination” tonight in tribute to Gene Wilder.

Field Trip, Alexander F, Monograms, Buffalo Rodeo @ Knitting Factory
Los Angeles native Noah Champ now makes richly layered dreampop in New York as Field Trip and is set to release the band’s debut album, † H o r r o r . V a c u i †, in late autumn. If you dig Wild Nothing, check these guys out.

String Orchestra of Brooklyn, William Brittelle, Jenn Wasner, Aaron Roche, Michi, Paul Wiancko @ (le) poisson rouge
Flock Of Dimes (aka Wye Oak’s Jenn Wasner) is one of the many talented peformers being paired up with the String Orchestra of Brooklyn tonight.

Shannon and the Clams, Fletcher C. Johnson, Saylavees, Benni @ Market Hotel
With a sound straight out of the early days of Rock n’ Roll, Shannon & the Clams bring big hooks and personality (and a lot of fun) to the table. It’s bound to get wild tonight.

Kimbra @ National Sawdust
The always-busy pop musician Kimbra plays The Selkie Series at National Sawdust tonight. “The Selkie Series is an annual summer series featuring critically-acclaimed female performance artists, musicians, and visual artists. An ongoing discussion on sexuality, feminity and an understanding of the self through every medium of perfomance and visual media.”

Chain of Flowers, Bootblacks, Ritual Humor @ Saint Vitus Bar
Chain of Flowers hail from Cardiff, Wales and make gothy, wall-of-sound postpunk that could fit comfortably on a mixtape amongst The Chameleons, The March Violets and Sisters of Mercy, or current groups like Eagulls, Iceage and Merchandise.

GABI, Ziemba, Dougie Poole @ Silent Barn
Ambient pop musician GABI released her very good debut album, Sympathy, which was co-produced by Oneohtrix Point Never, last year. Tonight she graces her hometown with another show.

Dave Chappelle @ The Cutting Room
The hilarious Dave Chappelle has a handful of intimate NYC shows this week at The Cutting Room and Gramercy Theatre. It’s a treat to see him in an environment this size, and not surprisingly sold out.

Dave Alvin and Phil Alvin with The Guilty Ones, Blind Boy Paxton @ City Winery NYC
Long before alt-country hit, Dave Alvin and Phil Alvin were ripping it up in The Blasters, one of the premiere “cowpunk” bands.
