What's going on Wednesday? (4th of July)

Amenra, Sunrot @ Saint Vitus (4 PM)
Belgian post-metal staples Amenra are back in North America in continued support of last year’s excellent Mass VI. They have upcoming West Coast dates with Neurosis and Converge soon, but first they’re playing Brooklyn’s Saint Vitus twice. This is the second show and it’s a daytime show (4 PM start).
PopGun 4th of July Party, Barbie Bertisch, Paul Raffaele, Mike Bloom, Amourette, Felipe From BK, Mr. Dereloid, Hunter Lombard, Brent Tactic @ Elsewhere Rooftop
Everybody wants to be on a roof for the Fourth of July, and Popgun has just what you need. DJs will be spinning all day and into the night and it’s free if you show up before 4 PM.
Nancy Whang, Justin Strauss, Billy Caldwell @ Good Roof at Dobbin St
Here’s another rooftop party, this one featuring DFA regular Nancy Whang, NYC nightclub mainstay Justin Strauss and “unobstructed views of Manhattan skyline” (which is becoming rarer in Brooklyn). 5-10 PM.
Tall Juan, Colin L., Chango4, Emmerson & Her Clammy Hands, Janitor, DJ crazy/beautiful @ SummerJam X
If the beach is more your thing, there’s this show in the Rockaways that’s presented by the dearly departed DIY space Shea Stadium. Free, all-ages, with a 1:30 PM start time. More info here.
There is also, of course the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks extravaganza, and Coney Island has fireworks (and rides and the beach and a hot dog eating contest if thats what you’re into).
