What's going on Wednesday?

Oddisee
Oddisee at BV-RBSS in 2016 (more by Amanda Hatfield)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Oddisee, & Good Compny ft. Olivier St. Louis & Sir the Baptist @ Highline Ballroom
Rapper/producer Oddisee has a style like few others, and this year’s The Iceberg (on Mello Music Group) is truly great stuff. His tour with a live band hits NYC tonight.

Kevin Barnes (Of Montreal), Christina Schneider @ Union Pool
While he preps the 10th anniversary reissue of Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?, Of Montreal main man Kevin Barnes plays this solo show tonight.

Pet Symmetry, Ratboys, Crusher @ Baby’s All Right
One of the many bands of Evan Weiss (Into It. Over It., The Progress, etc), Pet Symmetry just released their new album Vision on Polyvinyl and it’s an excellent dose of ’90s-style indie/emo. The band – which also features Erik Czaja (Dowsing) and Marcus Nuccio (What Gives, ex-Dowsing) — are on tour now with their Chicago neighbors Ratboys, who are not to miss.

Brother Ali, Sa-Roc @ Bowery Ballroom
Underground rap vet Brother Ali returned earlier this month with his new album All the Beauty in This Whole Life. His Rhymesayers labelmate Sa-Roc (who appears on his new album) opens tonight’s show.

Told Slant, gobbinjr, Fits, Crosslegged @ Brooklyn Night Bazaar
Told Slant (of the now-defunct Epoch collective) makes emotionally bare lo-fi pop and their live show is quite memorable. If you’re going tonight, it’s worth showing up early for bedroom folk artist Crosslegged.

John Mayall @ Iridium
John Mayall’s ’60s band the Bluesbreakers included future members of Cream, Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones, and more, and Mayall remains a UK blues legend in his own right. This is his second of two Iridium shows this week.

Shellshag, Hiccup, Kowabunga! Kid, Nuclear Santa Claust @ Silent Barn
This is a good bill all around of indie-pop punk, with local staples Shellshag, Hiccup, and Nuclear Santa Claust, plus Champaign, IL’s Kowabunga! Kid.
