What's going on Wednesday?

Rainer Maria at Saint Vitus
Rainer Maria at Saint Vitus (more by Amanda Hatfield)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Paul McCartney @ NYCB Live aka Nassau Coliseum
Paul McCartney wraps up his eight-night NYC area run tonight. His setlists haven’t changed much throughout the run (they include tons of Beatles songs), but he did bring Bruce Springsteen out one night. Will he have any surprises in store for the final night?

Chance The Rapper, Francis and the Lights, DJ Oreo @ Forest Hills Stadium
Still riding high off the release of last year’s beloved Coloring Book, Chance the Rapper returns to NYC for two huge shows. This is the second.

Rainer Maria, Olivia Neutron-John, Tim Kinsella @ Bowery Ballroom
Rainer Maria have been reunited for a few years now and last month they released S/T, their first album in 11 years. It’s a little heavier than their classic material, but it should please longtime fans and newcomers alike. If you’re going tonight, be sure to show up early for Tim Kinsella, who played NYC a few days ago as the frontman of Cap’n Jazz.

Seu Jorge @ Beacon Theatre
Seu Jorge bring his popular ‘The Life Aquatic’ David Bowie tribute back to Beacon Theatre. Tickets are still available.

Rodriguez @ The Space at Westbury
Having gone from almost complete obscurity in America to capable of selling out huge venues thanks to Oscar-winning documentary Searching for Sugar Man, Rodriguez’s music finally got the attention it deserved. He still sounds great, too.

Heaven 17 @ Highline Ballroom
This Human League offshoot, famous for such songs as  “(We Don’t Need This) Fascist Groove Thang” and “Temptation,” play their first-ever U.S. show tonight.

The Church, The Helio Sequence @ Le Poisson Rouge
Australian alt rock legends The Church continue to age gracefully on Man Woman Life Death Infinity, their forthcoming 26th LP. You’ll get some of that new record, and favorites like “Under the Milky Way,” “Reptile” and “Metropolis,” at this their first of two NYC shows.

Rostam, Kelly Zutrau, Deradoorian @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
Former Vampire Weekend member Rostam recently released his debut solo album, Half-Light, which has contributions from Kelly Zutrau (of Wet) and Deradoorian, who both open tonight’s release show.

Nosaj Thing, Jacques Greene, Jim-e Stack @ Warsaw
It’s a solid triple bill of electronic music/instrumental hip hop at Warsaw tonight.

SNST, Caravela, Bearchild, Gurus @ Goldsounds
Braid co-frontman Chris Broach recently released the Will Yip-produced debut album with his new synth-rock band SNST, which is sort of the continuation of The Firebird Band. Tonight’s their first NYC show since the album’s release.

Pharoah Sanders @ Birdland
A true jazz icon, Pharoah Sanders remains a force at age 76 and continues his five-night Birdland residency with two shows tonight.

Ian Chang, Rahm, Nina Mofitt @ Baby’s All Right
Son Lux drummer (and recent collaborator of Heems and Dave Harrington and others) Ian Chang just released his new solo album Spiritual Leader and he celebrates it at tonight’s release show.

Dump Him, Worriers (solo), Harkin, Espejos @ Silent Barn
Silent Barn’s Fall Fundraiser Week continues with a solo set from Worriers (who has a new album on SideOneDummy coming soon), Harkin (aka Katie Harkin who tours with Sleater-Kinney and Kurt Vile & Courtney Barnett’s band), and more.

YES featuring ARW, Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, Rick Wakeman @ NJPAC (Newark)
