Gilles Peterson hosts British Jazz Showcase @ Le Poisson Rouge (Winter Jazz Fest)
NYC’s annual Winter Jazz Fest begins today, and the first event is a showcase of British jazz hosted by the BBC’s Gilles Peterson. It features The Comet Is Coming, Nubya Garcia, Yazz Ahmed, and Oscar Jerome.
Vijay Iyer Sextet @ Birdland (two shows)
After a few trio and duo albums, Vijay Iyer released his first album with his sextet, Far From Over, last year, and it’s an excellent, modern twist on post-bop. He and his sextet play two shows at Birdland tonight.
Springsteen on Broadway @ Walter Kerr Theatre
Back from holiday break, The Boss resumes his completely sold-out “Springsteen on Broadway” run at the Walter Kerr Theatre, which has now been extended through June! At these shows, Bruce plans to give fans shows “that are as personal and as intimate as possible.”
Tommy Wiseau‘s cult classic The Room is screening in 600 theaters nationwide tonight.
