What’s going on Wednesday (Thanksgiving Eve)?

A$AP Rocky

It’s the beginning of Thanksgiving Weekend and if you’re in NYC for it, we’ve got a list of 27 shows to see in NYC over Thanksgiving Weekend 2019. You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

A$AP Rocky @ Avant Gardner
The last time NYC rapper A$AP Rocky played his hometown was headlining Rolling Loud and the whole A$AP Mob is set for Yams Day 2020 in January, but you can see Rocky at a way more intimate location than both of those on Thanksgiving Eve. There will also be music from DJ Spade, DJ Clue, DJ Moma, DJ Boof, and Odalys.

Bob Dylan @ Beacon Theatre (Also Friday and Saturday)
The great Bob Dylan continues his intimate ten-night run at Beacon Theatre with his band which, if previous nights’ setlists (which have been pretty much the same) are any indication, includes lots of favorites.

Ben Goldberg @ National Sawdust
Part of John Zorn’s Commissioning Series that celebrates his venue The Stone, clarinetist and composer Ben Goldberg plays this special show tonight accompanied by Ches Smith (vibraphone), Kenny Wollesen (vibraphone), Ryan Ferreira (electric guitar), Thomas Morgan (bass), and Michael Coleman (keyboards).

Get Stuffed Pre-Thanksgiving Dance Party @ Union Pool
WFMU’s Todd-o-Phonic Todd is throwing this second-annual pre-Thanksgiving party featuring fellow DJs Bailey, Reyes Rodriguez and Heavy Flow, spinning 45s of garage, soul, girl groups and more. Free.

Judy Collins, Chatham County Line, Jonas Fjeld @ Joe’s Pub
Folk icon Judy Collins released her latest LP Winter Stories last week, which she created with collaborators Jonas Fjeld and Chatham County Line. The three wrap up an eight-show residency at Joe’s Pub tonight performing songs off the new album, which includes originals and covers of Joni Mitchell, Jimmy Webb, and more.

Kitty, Ricky Eat Acid, The Pom Poms, Pinky Swear & more @ Elsewhere Zone One
Frequent collaborators (and married couple) Kitty and Sam Ray (Ricky Eat Acid) take over Elsewhere Zone One tonight with their Pretty Wavvy Pep Rally that sees them playing their own sets and a collab set as The Pom Poms. The bill also includes Pinky Swear and more.

Gunna @ Knockdown Center
Not only is A$AP Rocky doing Thanksgiving Eve at Avant Gardner, but very close by, unstoppable Atlanta rapper Gunna does his own Thanksgiving Eve party at another warehouse-y venue.

Lil TJay @ Playstation Theater
For yet another big rap show option tonight, fast-rising South Bronx rapper Lil Tjay plays his home city at the soon-to-close Times Square venue Playstation Theater, fresh off releasing his debut album True 2 Myself on Columbia.

Neek Bucks & friends @ SOB’s
And for a smaaller rap show, catch Harlem rapper Neek Bucks celebrating his very solid El Barrio 2 EP at SOB’s.

You can also find quality entertainment on almost any night of the week at: Barbès bar and performance space in Park Slope, LunÀtico in Bed Stuy, Nublu in the East Village, Blue Note jazz club in the West Village, The Stone in multiple locations, Comedy Cellar in the West Village, and Q.E.D. comedy club in Astoria.
