Wiki released XL debut 'No Mountains In Manhattan,' playing release show

In July, Ratking member Wiki announced that he signed to XL as a solo artist, released a great new single “Pretty Bull,” and said that his XL debut No Mountains In Manhattan would be out at some point this year. Earlier this week, Wik said it’d be out this Friday (8/25) and now it’s here. He promised it’d be “New York to the core – featuring local emcees, from legend to novice,” and he delivered. It features frequent collaborator Your Old Droog on “Litt 15,” Ghostface Killah on “Made For This,” Lakutis on “Nutcrackers,” and ACAB and Slicky Boy on “NMIM.” Vancouver alt-R&B duo Evy Jane are on a song too (“Pandora’s Box). There’s production from his Ratking groupmate Sporting Life, plus Kaytranada, NOLIFE, Earl Sweatshirt (under his “randomblackdude” guise), Wiki himself, and more. Wiki, Your Old Droog, and Edan played a collaborative set at the most recent BrooklynVegan-curated Red Bull Sound Select show earlier this week. Ahead of the new album, Wiki did a five-borough tour.

Wiki was supposed to play Warm Up this Saturday (8/26) but dropped off. (The lineup is now DJDS, Actress, Show Me the Body, RP Boo, Yves Tumor, and Umfang — tickets.) Stay tuned for more Wiki dates.
