Wild Beasts' Hayden Thorpe launches solo career with "Diviner" (listen)

UK art rockers Wild Beasts called it quits in 2017 after one final EP and a run of farewell shows (followed by the release of a live-in-studio album the following year), and now co-frontman Hayden Thorpe has officially launched his solo career. He released his debut single “Diviner,” which is on the more atmospheric side and has Hayden’s unmistakable voice in fine form. “‘Diviner’ became the first song and the divining rod for what was going to be next. There are, if we can wait for them, rare days of alignment,” Hayden said. “‘Diviner’ was written on such a day, my birthday of all days. The curtains were drawn for a while, I went inside. To say I’m delighted to see daylight would be an understatement.” It’s the kind of song that should instantly appeal to Wild Beasts fans, and you can check it out, along with its video (directed by Crowns & Owls), below.

When Wild Beasts released those final live-in-studio sessions, the album came with a statement that read: “Make no mistake; this is the last time Wild Beasts will be doing such things. This is no hiatus and there are no crafty eyes on a future reunion.”
