Will Oldham and Eighth Blackbird @ Prospect Park 6/18/2015
It was a lovely evening on Thursday (6/18) for a free Celebrate Brooklyn! show at the Prospect Park Bandshell. The night featured a few interesting pairings. First there was was neo-folk arist Sam Amidon and The Bill Frisell Trio, who worked together on Sam’s album Lily-O. Then it was Chicago’s contemporary music ensemble Eighth Blackbird who performed Frederic Rzewski’s spoken-word piece “Coming Together,” Steven Mackay’s “Lonely Motel” with actor/librettist Rinde Eckert, and then backing Will Oldham (their first time playing live together) for a selection of songs. Pictures from the night are in this post.
Celebrate Brooklyn!’s next Prospect Park Bandshell show happens Saturday (6/20) with DanceBrazil and Forro in the Dark. That show is free and starts at 7:30 PM.
