Windhand share “Grey Garden” off ‘Eternal Return’ (watch the trippy video)

Windhand recently announced their fourth album, Eternal Return, and now the first taste of the album is here, “Grey Garden.” Eternal Return follows their 2015 album Grief’s Infernal Flower, which I enjoyed but thought it sorta found Windhand on autopilot compared to their first two, but “Grey Garden” is a noticeable step up. It has them sounding more alive and urgent than they maybe ever have. Like Grief’s Infernal Flower, the new album was produced by Seattle grunge legend Jack Endino, and Windhand’s grunge side is really strong on this song. Alice In Chains-y melodies were always kinda hiding in the background of their earlier material, but on “Grey Garden,” Windhand sound like a band that could’ve gotten huge in the early ’90s. They also show off their ’60s psych side more than usual on this song (and the lava lamp/oil drop projection-ish section video fits that part perfectly). It’s like Alice In Chains, Electric Wizard, and Jefferson Airplane made a (very catchy) baby together, and it totally rips. Listen and watch the video (directed by Jordan Vance) below. The album drops October 5 via Relapse.

As mentioned, Windhand are touring with Satan’s Satyrs (who they released a split with earlier this year), including Brooklyn’s Elsewhere Hall on November 2 (tickets). All dates are listed below.
