WVRM Colony Collapse

WVRM prep new LP for Prosthetic; tour w/ Ether Coven, Barishi, Zombie Apocalypse begins

South Carolina deathgrinders WVRM will release their new album Colony Collapse on April 3 via their new label home Prosthetic Records, and the first taste of the album is the skull-crushing “My Fucking Dixie (The New South).” They say:

We’re excited to be joining a roster that includes other bands from the Southeast and we’re very privileged to help bring more attention to that scene. Colony Collapse for us is the natural next step in a sound we’ve cultivated through every release over the years, especially from our last two full length albums, Swarm Sound and Heartache.

WVRM are also about to begin a tour in Raleigh tonight (1/16), opening for Remembering Never offshoot Ether Coven and Vermont’s Season of Mist-signed proggy sludgesters Barishi. For a few of those dates, they’ll also be joined by Shai Hulud-related crossover thrashers Zombie Apocalypse, who released their first new music in 15 years last summer.

Those four bands hit Brooklyn’s Saint Vitus on Friday (1/17) (tickets) and Trenton, NJ’s Championship Bar on Saturday (1/18) (tickets). All dates are listed below.

For Ether Coven, the tour is in support of their new album Everything Is Temporary Except Suffering, which, among other things, includes a doomy metalcore cover of Bjork‘s Homogenic classic “Unravel.” You can listen to that album below too.
