X

X tour starts this weekend with BV-presented Irving Plaza show Saturday

Legendary LA punk band X kicks off their tour, with guitarist Billy Zoom happily back in the fold, on Friday (8/12) in Virginia. Right after that they’ll be in NYC for their big BV-presented show at Irving Plaza on August 13 with Dead Rock West, which is part of a two-night BV takeover of Irving Plaza that also includes Drive Like Jehu on Friday August 12.

X frontwoman Exene Cervenka recently talked to the Washington Times about the band and the upcoming tour.

Like the song “New World” I think is more true than ever. The lyrics are about having a president named “What’s His Name” and things being terrible. People not knowing who is president. It’s similar to what’s going on now where people really just aren’t as informed as they could be about what’s really going on. That’s more relevant.

There are some songs I like playing more than others. There are a few that are harder for me to do, although some are more fun. Everybody wants to have fun, right? But sometimes the slower, sadder songs like “Unheard Music” can be so intense. Depending on what the people that are there are feeling, it can be powerful and moving.

We hope to see you there! Tickets for the Irving Plaza show are still available.

Meanwhile, X’s John Doe is always keeping busy on his own, and he has a few tour dates coming up following the recent release of his new book and solo album.
