Cretan lute player George Xylouris and Australian drummer Jim White (Dirty Three) are on tour right now in support of Mother, their third album of Greek folk which came out in February via Bella Union. They played a energetic and fun set at Brooklyn’s Murmrr Ballroom on Wednesday night (2/28) and when songs hit frenetic paces, Xylouris White had the crowd whipped into a (light, polite) frenzy. Jessica Moss (Silver Mt Zion) opened the show with one extended piece using heavily treated electronic violin and vocals. Pictures from the night are in the gallery above.
