Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) announces new LP 'December 99th'

Yasiin Bey (fka Mos Def) has announced a new album, his first since 2009’s The Ecstatic. The new record is called December 99th, which he made with Ferrari Shepard, who produced the whole album. It drops on December 9 as a Tidal exclusive, and it features a trio of previously-released tracks — “Seaside Panic Room,” “Local Time” and “N.A.W.”

Yasiin recently announced farewell shows in NYC and DC later this year. It seems likely that this might be his final album given that he claims these will be his final shows. He’s also added an LA show to that list, on December 13 at the Saban Theater. Tickets for that are on sale now.

The NYC show is at the Apollo Theater on December 21 and tickets go on presale on Tuesday (11/29) for members of the Apollo’s mailing list, and on sale to the general public Friday (12/2).
