Night 3 of Yo La Tengo’s Hanukkah run at Bowery Ballroom found the trio joined by a couple notable duos. SQÜRL, aka filmmaker/musician Jim Jarmusch and Carter Logan, joined Ira, Georgia and James for most of their set, which opened and closed with two of their most well-known songs, “Sugarcube” and “Tom Courtenay.” There was also a new song, sung by Georgia (from that upcoming album they’re hinting at?), plus more than a few covers, including Love’s “A House is Not a Hotel” during the encore when they were joined by the night’s opening band, The Sadies. The setlist (via Jesse Jarnow’s blog), and some Instagrams from the show, are below.

The other duo of the night were the famed Brothers Italiano, aka Jon Benjamin and Jon Glaser sporting Chef Boyardee hats and outrageous accents, and they were joined by Georgia on drums for rendition of their classic single “Cannelloni, Rigatoni, Mozzarella, Pizza Pie.” Video of that is below.

Ira made the Night 3 mix which included everything from Benny Spellman and Fonda Ray to Gastr Del Sol and Culture Club. Proceeds from the night benefited Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law.

Who do you think will be the surprise musicians and comedians for Night 4? Tonight and Saturday were previously sold out but more tickets have been put back on sale, along with the rest of Yo La Tengo’s Hanukkah Run at Bowery Ballroom.
