Philly indie rockers Young Statues are set to release their new album, The Flatlands Are Your Friend, on October 21 via Run for Cover, which follows their 2011 self-titled debut and a 2013 EP. The new album was recorded by Andy LeMaster who’s worked on several Bright Eyes albums and was a member of fellow Saddle Creek band Now It’s Overhead, which makes him a good fit for Young Statues. Like Bright Eyes and a lot of Saddle Creek, Young Statues have a folky sensibility to their songwriting, but can also churn out big emotive choruses without crossing over into bombast. Check out one of the tracks, “Run The River Dry,” below.

Young Statues will also be playing a few shows the week the album comes out including the Brixton Agency CMJ showcase happening at Grand Victory on October 22 with a great lineup all around of Creepoid, Ex-Breathers, UnWed, Palehound, The Beverleys, Native America and Teen Death.

All of their dates are listed, with the song stream, below…
