Youth Funeral releasing an EP on Twelve Gauge (hear a song)

Youth Funeral

New Hampshire screamo group Youth Funeral are putting out a new EP called See You When I See You on January 27 via Twelve Gauge Records, also home of Nervous, No Sir and others. We’re premiering the EP’s new single “When It Pours.”

“When It Pours” is a complex, heavy slab of screamo in the Orchid/Loma Prieta/Deathwish Inc/etc vein. One thing that sticks out about them is the technically proficient instrumentalism. The song moves from section to section seamlessly, starting with grind-y blasts of aggression and moving towards a subtler, more emotive coda. It manages to be technical, emotional, and tightly composed at the same time. The EP was engineered, mixed, and mastered by Will Killingsworth, whose work with Orchid, We Were Skeletons, My Fictions and others proves he knows how to make bands like this sound great in the studio. Here’s looking forward to what the rest of the EP sounds like.
