Zeal & Ardor playing shows around Psycho Las Vegas
Zeal & Ardor is the unique project of Swiss-American musician Manuel Gagneaux, who combines black metal and blues. Previously a solo project, Zeal & Ardor now plays with a full band. They recently released Devil Is Fine, and you can watch the video for the title track below.
This quote from a press release explains the idea behind the genre:
His approach draws on an alternate history and stems from two thoughts: Christianity was imposed upon American slaves, just as it was imposed in Norway, and black metal in the ’90s grew as a rebellion to monotheism.
What would have happened if American slaves had rebelled in the same way? Or put bluntly: What would satanic spirituals sound like?
If that sounds interesting to you, you might wanna catch Zeal & Ardor on tour this summer. They’re playing a few US shows surrounding their appearance at Psycho Las Vegas.
The band will play a NYC show at Saint Vitus on August 23. Tickets go on sale Friday, April 21 at 10AM.
