Zola Jesus & John Wiese @ Rough Trade (pics, setlist)

After moving to Mute for 2014’s slightly poppier Taiga, Zola Jesus returned to longtime label Sacred Bones for this year’s Okovi, which is more in line with her more aggressive early work. She brought her tour behind the album to Rough Trade NYC on Wednesday night (10/4), where she played most of the new album, just one Taiga song (“Dangerous Days”), and some older favorites like “Vessel,” “Skin,” and “Night.” Opening the show was noise artist John Wiese (of Sissy Spacek, Bastard Noise, and more). Pictures are in the gallery above and Zola’s setlist and a video of “Night” from the show are below.
