13 New Metal Songs Out This Week

I wrote about the new metal-adjacent Have A Nice Life album over in Notable Releases (and, actually, the Mount Eerie/Julie Doiron album in Notable Releases might sorta count as “metal adjacent” too), and for even more of this week’s new metal albums, head to Invisible Oranges’ Upcoming Metal Releases to read about the new albums from Esoteric, Schammasch, Bask, Slow, and more. This week also gave us new singles from Blood Incantation, Ozzy Osbourne, King Diamond, Crowbar’s Kirk Windstein, Obsequiae, Liturgy’s Hunter Hunt-Hendrix, Sodom, Child Bite, and more. Read on for all the metal songs we posted on BV this week…

BLOOD INCANTATION – “SLAVE SPECIES OF THE GODS”

Blood Incantation‘s highly anticipated sophomore album Hidden History of the Human Race is just two weeks away (it’s due November 22nd via Dark Descent), and the band have now shared the second of its four tracks, which you can read more about here.

OZZY OSBOURNE – “UNDER THE GRAVEYARD”

Ozzy Osbourne announced his first new album in ten years — made with producer/guitarist Andrew Watt (who co-produced the recent Ozzy/Post Malone song), Guns N’ Roses‘ Duff McKagan on bass, and Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ Chad Smith on drums — and the first single is “Under the Graveyard.” Read more about it here.

KING DIAMOND – “MASQUERADE OF MADNESS”

King Diamond has been playing this song on his tour (which we caught in NYC last night), and now he finally released the studio version. His new album The Institute comes out in 2020 via Metal Blade. Read more here.

KIRK WINDSTEIN (of CROWBAR) – “DREAM IN MOTION”

Crowbar frontman Kirk Windstein announced a new solo album, Dream In Motion, and you can read more about the newly-released title track here.

OBSEQUIAE – “THE PALMS OF SORROWED KINGS”

The release of Obsequiae’s anticipated new album The Psalms of Sorrowed Kings is approaching (11/22 via 20 Buck Spin), and they’ve shared another single from it today. If you like your black metal with bright, soaring melodies, this band is consistently great at that sort of thing and this new single is no exception.

HUNTER HUNT-HENDRIX – “APPARITION OF THE ETERNAL CHURCH” (EDIT)

Liturgy are releasing a new album called HAQQ and frontman Hunter Hunt-Hendrix is releasing the soundtrack to his opera Origin of the Alimonies, and you can now stream this excerpt from the latter. Read more about both albums here.

SODOM – “OUT OF THE FRONTLINE TRENCH”

German thrash legends (who are back with ’80s-era guitarist Frank Blackfire) have debuted the title track of their upcoming Out of the Frontline Trench, and like the previous single, this song sounds as bloodthirsty as Sodom’s classics.

CHILD BITE – “BLOW OFF THE OMENS”

Child Bite’s new album Blow Off The Omens comes out later this month, and you can hear its title track (which features Chewy of Voivod) now and read more about it here.

UNREAL CITY – “SATYR” & “SHEOL”

Pittsburgh metallic hardcore crew Unreal City (who have current and former members of Eternal Sleep, Integrity, and more) are back with a new two-song single featuring the sludgy “Satyr” and the whiplash-inducing “Sheol,” both of which are total ragers.

EL DRUGSTORE – “SAMARITROPHIA”

Earlier this year, NJ prog metallers East of the Wall released their first album in six years, NP-Complete, and now related band El Drugstore (featuring former East of the Wall guitarist/vocalist Kevin Conway and current East of the Wall drummer Seth Rheam) are releasing their first new album in six years, The Golden Age Of Bad Ideas, on November 15 via Nefarious Industries. Read more about new single “Samaritrophia” here.

HIGHER POWER – “LOW SEASON”

UK band Higher Power blur the lines between real-deal hardcore and catchy alternative rock in a way that gave a lot of underground band fluke MTV/rock radio hits in the ’90s, and if you dig when heavy bands aren’t afraid to write good hooks, you don’t wanna sleep on their upcoming album 27 Miles Underwater, which is due January 24 via Roadrunner Records (who released records by a lot of those kinds of bands in the ’90s). Its latest single is “Low Season,” and it’s a rager.

SAUDADE – “SANCTUARY DUB” (ft. HO99O9)

The Saudade collective have shared the Ho99o9 collab off their upcoming Shadows & Light / Sanctuary Dub EP, which is coming out soon via Sargent House. on this song, Saudade is Dr. Know, David Torn, John Medeski, Robert Thomas Jr. Gil Sharone and Chuck Doom (but other songs include Deftones’ Chino Moreno, Cro-Mags’ Mackie Jayson, and other members). It starts out as dub/reggae, but takes an unexpectedly heavy turn towards the end.
