16 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

NO TRIGGER – “ANTIFANTASY”

Massachusetts melodic punk/hardcore vets No Trigger recently confirmed their first album in a decade, and now we know more details. It’s called Dr. Album, but first they’ll put out the Acid Lord EP on May 20 via Red Scare Industries. The first single is “Antifantasy,” and it finds them sounding as ripping and catchy as ever while taking tongue-in-cheek shots at neo-nazis.

MISTER GOBLIN – “RED BOX” (ft. SADIE DUPUIS)

Mister Goblin (aka Sam Goblin, who used to front Two Inch Astronaut) releases his new album Bunny this Friday (4/22), and here’s one more single, “Red Box,” a tender indie folk song that finds Sam harmonizing with Speedy Ortiz/Sad13’s Sadie Dupuis.

BLOOD MENACE (HAZING OVER) – “VICIOUS BEINGS”

Blood Menace, the death metal/deathcore solo project of Hazing Over vocalist Jake Yencik, has returned with his first new song since his 2020 debut EP Threat, and it’s under-two-minute offering of manic, in-your-face brutality.

CAULDRON – “FUTILE” & “CROSSING THE THRESHOLD”

UK hardcore/metalcore band Cauldron have put out their first new songs since 2020’s great Last Words: Screamed From Behind God’s Muzzle EP, “Futile” and “Crossing the Threshold.” Like the last EP, these tracks take things back to the late ’90s era of metalcore, before the genre went mainstream, but as aggressive as Cauldron get, they don’t shy away from a little melody either.

MEMENTO – A CHORUS OF DISTRESS EP

Cauldron’s Orlando-based The Coming Strife labelmates Memento also just dropped a killer new four-song EP, A Chorus of Distress. This band combines that same era of metalcore with melodic emo, coming out with something that scratches the same itch as classic bands like Poison the Well and From Autumn to Ashes, but in a totally fresh way.

NEGATIVE FRAME – SMALL WORLD EP

While we’re talking about The Coming Strife Records, one more recent release that we wanted to show some love to: UK band Negative Frame dropped this four-song EP a few weeks back, and they bring a thrash/groove metal vibe to hardcore, kinda like the UK counterpart to Santa Cruz’s Drain. Like that band does, they rip.

AMERICAN THRILLS – “IVY LEAGUE SWING”

As Connecticut punks American Thrill continue to gear up for their debut full-length, due this fall via Wiretap, they’ve shared another single and it’s another heartland punk anthem in the vein of The Menzingers, The Gaslight Anthem, etc.

MONO – “KIOKU”

Japanese post-rock vets MONO have announced that they’re doing the soundtrack for the new documentary My Story, The Buraku Story, which you can read more about here. Here’s the first single.

YOUNG GUV & JAMES MATTHEW VII – “CHANGE YOUR MIND”

Young Guv, aka former Fucked Up guitarist Ben Cook, has announced GUV IV — his second album of 2022 — which will be out June 24 via Run for Cover. The first single is a collaboration with James Matthew VII and may appeal to fans of Real Estate and other dreamy psychedelic guitar pop.

BABA ALI – BLACK + BLUE (A CERTAIN RATIO REMIX)

London via New Jersey artist Baba Ali has shared a remix of his song “Black + Blue” by Manchester vets A Certain Ratio who give the track a rave-y, acid house feel. “We really enjoyed working on ‘Black and Blue” and we wanted to give it a real live feel which you can hear in the recording. When Baba heard our mix he said ‘I love how alive this version sounds. It feels like we all came together and jammed it out in a nice tight little basement venue.'” The original is on Baba Ali’s 2021 debut album which was produced by Hot Chip’s Al Doyle.

XENIA RUBINOS – “MADRUGADA” FT EL INDIVIDUO

Madrugada“ is a rework of Xenia’s “What Is This Voice” from 2021’s Una Rosa and features Cuban rapper El Individuo.

SHERYL CROW – “LIVE WITH ME” FT. MICK JAGGER (ROLLING STONES COVER)

Sheryl Crow’s new cover of Rolling Stone’s “Live With Me” features Mick Jagger on harmonica and is from upcoming Showtime documentary Sheryl, due out on May 6.

READY FOR DEATH (MILHOUSE, PELICAN, RACETRAITOR, etc) – “CYBORG PRIEST”

Ready For Death is a new thrash supergroup with members of Milhouse, Indecision, Pelican, Racetraitor, Annihilus, and other bands, and you can read more about their debut single here.

PRIVATE MIND – “STRANGERS”

Long Island emo band Private Mind pull influence from hometown heroes like Silent Majority and On the Might of Princes, as you can hear on this new single. Read more about it here.

RAW PLASTIC – “CRYING ON A SURFBOARD”

Polish indie-punks Raw Plastic have a new EP on the way, and you can read more about lead single “Crying On A Surfboard” here.

ONELINEDRAWING – “THIS IS WATER”
