ULTHAR - "CHURN"

Bay Area death metallers Ulthar have shared the second single (and opening track) off their anticipated new album Providence, and this two-minute, whiplash-inducing scorcher is even more intense than the great first single.

STEVE VON TILL (NEUROSIS) - "DREAMS OF TREES"

Neurosis' Steve Von Till released the first single off his upcoming solo album, and if you like Neurosis’ softer side (or Nick Cave’s recent albums), you'll like this. Read more here.

--

-(16)- - "ME AND THE DOG DIE TOGETHER"

Sludge veterans -(16)- have unleashed a second single off their upcoming album Dream Squasher (due 6/5 via Relapse), and it's yet another thick, beefy, bone-crushing slab of sludge from this consistently great band.

--

LIVING GATE (mem YOB, OATHBREAKER, ETC) - "HEAVEN ABLAZE"

Members of YOB, Oathbreaker, Amenra, and Wiegedood have a new OSDM-style band called Living Gate and you can read more about their gruesome lead single here.

--

PUSCIFER - "APOCALYPTICAL"

After releasing the first A Perfect Circle album in 14 years and then the first Tool album in 13 years, Maynard James Keenan is now prepping a new album by his other other band, Puscifer. Read more about the first single here.

--

DANIEL ROMANO - "FOREVER LOVE'S FOOL (ft. TOOL'S DANNY CAREY)

This isn't metal at all (not that Puscifer is) but speaking of Tool: following genre-hopping Ontario singer/songwriter Daniel Romano's recent collaboration with two Fucked Up members comes a 22 and a half minute prog/psych epic featuring Tool drummer Danny Carey. This whole thing is pretty nuts and really earns its lengthy running time. It's like early Pink Floyd, early King Crimson, and The Kinks in a blender, and these two really pull it off.

--

ELLEFSON (MEGADETH) - "OVER NOW" (POST MALONE COVER)

It's all Post Malone all the time lately. Post Malone covered Nirvana, Dashboard Confessional covered Post Malone, and now Megadeth bassist/co-founder David Ellefson has done a heavy metal cover of Post Malone's "Over Now."

--

XIBALBA - "AÑOS EN INFIERNO"

Metallic hardcore bruisers Xibalba have shared the second single from their upcoming album Años en infierno (due 5/29 via Southern Lord), and it's as bludgeoning as you'd hope. Listen at Revolver and revisit the first single below.

--

DEVIL WITH NO NAME (mem LORD MANTIS) - "GRAND WESTERN APOSTASY" & "MONAD"

Devil With No Name features members of Lord Mantis, Void Omnia and Sovereign, and they're releasing their self-titled EP (which was mixed and mastered by Lord Mantis/Abigail Williams' Ken Sorceron) on May 22. They're currently streaming two tracks from it, and both are doses of evil, venomous, blackened sludge that sound really great.

--

VOIDCEREMONY - "DESICCATED WHISPERS"

Ramona, CA filth-spewing death metallers Voidceremony formed in 2010 and have three EPs dating back to 2015, but Entropic Reflections Continuum: Dimensional Unravel will be their first full-length album. It drops June 26 via 20 Buck Spin and here's the first single.

--

SELF-HYPNOSIS (mem ESOTERIC, LYCHGATE, more) - "CONTAGION"

Self-Hypnosis is a new progressive doom band with some familiar faces, and today they released the trippy, hypnotic, 14-minute "Contagion" off their upcoming debut album Contagion of Despair, due August 21 via Svart Records.

--

LESSER GLOW - "TOBA"

Boston sludge/post-metallers Lesser Glow have shared another song off their upcoming album Nullity (due 5/29 via Pelagic), and it's the kind of towering, heavy yet atmospheric stuff that fans of Neurosis and Isis should definitely check out.

--

GAMA BOMB - "LIVING FOR THE LOCKDOWN"

Irish thrash revivalists Gama Bomb have signed to Prosthetic and are preparing to release a new album on the label this fall, but first they put out this tongue-in-cheek song about the times we're living in.

--

BENT SEA - "GRIND TO A HALT" (ft. MIDNIGHT'S ATHENAR)

Bent Sea, the grind project of drummer Dirk Verbeuren (Megadeth, ex-Soilwork), has an upcoming, guest-filled album called Instagrind, and it'll include this scorcher featuring vocals by Midnight's Athenar.

--

EXECUTIONER'S MASK - "NO FUNERAL"

Executioner's Mask is gothy post-punk from members of Crowhurst (Jay Gambit), Intestinal Disgorge (Ryan Wilson), and LACE/Cop Warmth (Craig Mickle), and "No Funeral" is the first taste of their upcoming album Despair Anthems, due July 10 via Profound Lore. It's very revivalist, but Executioner's Mask do it well.

--

A.A. WILLIAMS - "BE QUIET AND DRIVE" (DEFTONES COVER)

Dark singer/songwriter A.A. Williams has a debut album on the way and she also continued her isolation cover series with a haunting, minimal take on the Deftones classic "Be Quiet and Drive."

--

CEMICAN - "YOOK 'OL KAAB MAYA"

Guadalajara folk metal sextet Cemican combine indigenous instrumentation with Headbanger's Ball-worthy riffage on their new total head-trip of a new song. "The song, which mixes the Mayan language with Spanish, is based on the Mayan worldview and the integration of nature into the universe," the band says. "It discusses the construction of the Mayan empire, its sacred temples and its people. There is also talk of contact with the stars and the astral journey together with non-earthly beings -- the helpers of creation -- who were given the power to create, die and reincarnate, dominate eclipses and walk with the jaguar. The four elements of life are mentioned -- water, fire, wind and earth as part of the mystical light."

--

JIMMY URINE & SERJ TANKIAN - FUKTRONIC

Mindless Self Indulgence's Jimmy Urine and System Of A Down's Serj Tankian have released their long-in-the-making collaborative Fuktronic album, which they call "the ultimate soundtrack for a one of a kind British Gangster Film you'll wish existed."
