18 New Songs Out Today
So many artists, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, show recaps, track premieres, and more all day. That includes a lot of tour announcements, a list of tonight’s NYC shows, and NY shows that just went on sale. We publish a monthly playlist of some of our favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place…
EOB (ED O'BRIEN OF RADIOHEAD) - "SANTA TERESA"
Radiohead's Ed O'Brien has been talking about releasing a solo album for some time and it looks like we're finally going to get to hear it. Credited to EOB, "Santa Teresa" is a gorgeous ambient piece, with some soothingly psychedelic visuals by ULTRAVIOLET. Ed says "songs to come soon."
ARTHUR RUSSELL - "YOU DID IT"
Posthumous Arthur Russell material is still surfacing via the Russell Library, the latest of which is album Iowa Dream which will be out November 15 via Audika Records. The 19 songs here include demos he made for Columbia and Mercury Records and feature session work from Ernie Brooks, Rhys Chatham, Henry Flynt, Jon Gibson, Peter Gordon, Steven Hall, Jackson Mac Low, Larry Saltzman, and David Van Tieghem. You can listen to "You Did It," which falls somewhere between Russell's folkier and dance-music oriented sides.
NORAH JONES/MAVIS STAPLES - "I'LL BE GONE"
"The first time I met Mavis she held my hand and we sang side-by-side to honor Paul McCartney," Norah Jones says of this collaboration with the iconic Mavis Staples. "She is a beacon of love and light. It is always an honor, a pleasure, and a dream come true to sing with her. I hope we get to do more of it."
GUCCI MANE - "BIG BOOTY" (ft. MEGAN THEE STALLION)
Just one week after Gucci Mane appeared on DaBaby's new album, he's got a new song out featuring rap's other rookie of the year, Megan Thee Stallion. It's a subwoofer-rattling banger, aka the perfect song for Megan to hop on.
FROM INDIAN LAKES - "GARDEN BED" (ft. MIRIAM DEVORA OF QUEEN OF JEANS)
From Indian Lakes have shared another single off their upcoming album Dimly Lit, and this one features Mirian Devora of FIL's upcoming tourmates Queen of Jeans. It's a very cool dose of synthy indie rock, and Miriam sounds great on it.
DEVON WELSH - "UNIFORM"
Former Majical Cloudz vocalist Devon Welsh's new solo album, True Love, is out next week, and he calls its latest single, the ghostly, haunting "Uniform," his "personal favourite song on True Love." "The song is about role models, identity and love," he continues.
NOCTURNUAL SUNSHINE (MAYA JANE COLES) - "PULL UP" (ft. GANGSTA BOO & YOUNG M.A)
UK producer/DJ Maya Jane Coles has released a new track under her Nocturnal Sunshine moniker, and it features two great US rappers, Three 6 Mafia's Gansta Boo and rising New York emcee Young M.A. Maya provides a minimal, eerie instrumental, and the two rappers sound great over it.
TRAVIS SCOTT - "HIGHEST IN THE ROOM"
The ever-popular, radio-dominating Travis Scott is back with a new single and video, "Highest in the Room," and it's a dose of atmospheric, melancholic auto-tune rap.
TYLER, THE CREATOR - "EARFQUAKE" (CHANNEL TRES REMIX)
Fresh off releasing his very good Black Moses EP, Channel Tres has remixed "EARFQUAKE" off Tyler, the Creator's great new album IGOR, marking the first-ever official remix of a Tyler, the Creator song. Channel Tres turns the song into a groovy dancefloor jam, and throws some smooth sax on it too.
LIFE OF AGONY - "BLACK HEART"
Life Of Agony have debuted another song and video off their upcoming album The Sound of Scars, which is a concept album that continues the story of their classic 1993 debut River Runs Red. Check it out below, and don't forget you can catch Life of Agony at their intimate Coney Island release show, presented by BrooklynVegan, WSOU, and The Jerry Farley. Ticket info here.
SUFJAN STEVENS, TIMO ANDRES - "IV FROM THE DECALOGUE"

DAVE EAST - "ALONE" (ft. JACQUEES)
Rising Harlem rapper Dave East will follow a run of several promising mixtapes with his official debut album, Survival, on November 8 via Def Jam/Mass Appeal. Along with the album announcement comes new single "Alone," which features R&B singer Jacquees and sees Dave East exploring his slow jam side.
THE DARKNESS - 'EASTER IS CANCELED' (ALBUM STREAM)
"Behold this wonder of digital music magnificence!" say The Darkness upon the release of their new album, Easter is Canceled. As you'd expect it's full of massive riffs, twin leads, wild falsetto singing and cheeky humor. Aka, a Darkness album.
STEVE MASON (BETA BAND) - "LIKE A RIPPLE"
Former Beta Band frontman Steve Mason will release new EP, Coup d’état, on October 18. "Like a Ripple" is a little more of a driving post-punk song that you might expect from Mason. "I was listening to 'I Travel' by Simple Minds on repeat during this time, and wanted to do something with a similar energy."
ANNA MEREDITH - "INHALE EXHALE"
Anna Meredith has released another track off her upcoming album, FIBS. "Inhale Exhale" is dizzying synthpop that is both minimal and intimate, soaring and epic.
BRIX & THE EXTRICATED - "DINOSAUR GIRL"
Brix & The Extricated, aka former Fall guitarist (and onetime wife of Mark E Smith) and other '80s-era Fall members (including Paul & Stephen Hanley), have a new single out. The spunky "Dinosaur Girl" recalls that era, not to mention Brix's other band, Adult Net.
GESAFFELSTEIN - NOVO SONIC SYSTEM EP
French producer Gesaffelstein follows his recent album Hyperion with a new six-song EP, NOVO SONIC SYSTEM. No pop guests on this one, just driving, industrial-inspired jams.
