Composer and minimalist icon Terry Riley will be celebrated as he approaches his 85th year, with a two-night event at Brooklyn's Pioneer Works on December 20 & 21. "Terry Riley at 85" features two unique evenings of music, both of which will include performances from Riley and special guests "playing some of his most important works as well as improvising with longtime collaborators." Important works include 1969's A Rainbow in Curved Air, and among those guests and collaborators are John Zorn, Riley's son, Gyan, Dave Crossin, Dan Blake Caroline Davis, Travis LaPlante, Scott Robinson, Greg Chudzik, and Nathan Koci, with more to be announced.

There will also be a Terry Riley 85th birthday celebration at the 2020 edition of Big Ears in Knoxville, TN.
