70+ artists & labels donating Bandcamp Day profits to anti-police brutality causes

Bandcamp‘s next fee-free first Friday is this week (6/5), and like the two previous times, several artists will be putting out Bandcamp exclusives for the occasion. Several artists and labels will also be using the opportunity to donate the money they raise to organizations involved with fighting against police brutality and for racial justice (and a few other good causes too). Bandcamp will also be giving their cut of sales on Juneteeth (6/19) to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.

Bandcamp has been listing artists and labels who are pledging to donate, and some of the quotes below were given by artists and labels to Pitchfork. Here are some of the artists and labels making donations on June 5:

Bonny Doon: Donating all proceeds from sales of new compilation to Black Lives Matter.

Brutal Panda: Releasing charity comp featuring Moon Destroys, Ruby the Hatchet, Kowloon Walled City and many more, with proceeds being donated to Campaign Zero.

Cascine: Donating a portion of all sales to Black Visions Collective.

Stef Chura: Donating all proceeds from purchases of hats or t-shirts from June 1 – 8 to Black Visions Collective and The Bail Project.

Counter Intuitive: Donating all proceeds from sales to bail funds, with a matching donation up to $1000 from the label.

Dark Descent: Donating 25% of all sales to The Place, an outreach program for homeless young people.

Dion Lunadon: The A Place to Bury Strangers bassist will split donations for new single “When Will I Hold You Again” between Campaign Zero and City Harvest and will match the Bandcamp donations up to $1,000.

Exploding in Sound: Donating 100% of all sales to Campaign Zero and the National Bailout Fund, and matching the first $400 in sales.

Father/Daughter: Donating $1.00 for every item sold to Black Lives Matter.

Fire Talk: Donating all proceeds to NAACP Legal Defense Fund.

Get Better Records: Donating 100% of their share, and 100% of their artists share (with artist approval) — 50% to Philadelphia Community Bail Fund and 50% to Black and Pink National.

Ghoul: Donating 100% of sales to The Bail Project.

Great Grandpa: Making all titles Name Your Price, with proceeds split between Black Visions Collective and Northwest Community Bail Fund.

Iron Lung Records writes, “This Friday, all money spent on ILR things is going straight to Black Lives Matter organizations and protestor bail. 1312. Stay free.”

Luminelle: Donating 100% of digital revenue to Detroit Justice Center.

Mint Records: Offering rare test pressings from Wares, The Pack A.D., lié and Tough Age; donating 100% profits from sales made from June 1 through June 7 to Black in BC Mutual Aid Fund, Black Lives Matter Vancouver, and Progressives Everywhere Bail Fund.

Mr. Bungle: Giving 100% of proceeds from new track & new T-Shirt style to Musicares Covid-19 Relief Fund.

One Little Indian: Making the stems for Crass’s ”The Feeding Of The 5000” available for remixing, with all proceeds donated to the UK charity Refuge.

Really From: Donating all proceeds to NAACP Legal Defense Fund.

Rituals of Mine: All proceeds from new single donated to the NorCal resistance fund.

RVNG: Redistributing proceeds from all sales towards individual black artists living in NYC, and working with black community leaders to identify and reach those individuals.

Sacred Bones Records: Donating 100% of all digital sales split between The Loveland Foundation and a nationwide bail fund that splits donations among community bail funds.

Sad13: Donating all profits to bail funds.

Thrill Jockey: Releasing several LPs at a reduced price, with proceeds going to anti-racism charities; releasing a handful of limited-edition color LPs that were unearthed during a recent warehouse clearout.

Tompkins Square: Releasing Imaginational Anthem Vol. X: Overseas Edition; Exclusive pre-order for new Josh Kimbrough album; offering 80% off Tompkins Square discography purchases; releasing Out of the Ashes: A Benefit Album for Minneapolis with proceeds going to local Minneapolis charities.

Tourist: Donating all sales through the month of June to the George Floyd Memorial Fund.

TV Girl: Matching, dollar-for-dollar, any purchases of the record (up to $5,000) and donating it all to a Los Angeles-based bail relief fund.

Wicca Phase Springs Eternal: Matching proceeds from all sales “for the foreseeable future” with a donation to National Bail Out.

Damnably: Donating 100% of their share of sales to Stand Against Racism & Inequality and Black Thrive; offering new merch from Otoboke Beaver, Drinking Boys and Girls Choir, and Say Sue Me.

Double Double Whammy: Donating 100% of all proceeds to the Movement for Black Lives and The Loveland Foundation.

Dua Selah: All proceeds from exclusive new track donated to Black Lives Matter.

Fat Possum Records: Donating 15% of all sales to the Boys & Girls Club of Oxford, Mississippi.

Keeled Scales: Donating 100% of all digital sales from Tenci’s My Heart is an Open Field, 50% of sales of Tenci’s Hummingbird shirt, and 25% of all physical sales of Tenci merch to Brave Space Alliance; for all other titles, donating 50% on soft merch and 25% of all physical sales to Austin Justice Coalition; sharing 100% of all digital sales with artists.

Kill Rock Stars: Donating 20% of proceeds from all sales to ActBlue Bail Funds for Protestors.

Lithics: Donating all revenue from tote bag sales to Don’t Shoot Portland.

NOTHING: Donating 100% of sales to Split Community Bail Out Fund.

Paradise of Bachelors: Matching all digital sales with donations to local bail funds as well as Black Lives Matter.

Park the Van: Releasing new compilation, Banded Against Racism, featuring unreleased recordings from BRONCHO, Floating Action, Pigeon John, Cayucas, BOYO, Drew Citron, and more; donating all proceeds from this compilation to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.

Rough Trade Records: Releasing entire Parquet Courts discography to Bandcamp for the first time; making a donation to Black Lives Matter.

Rough Trade Publishing: Releasing new compilation Talk – Action = Zero, with all proceeds going to benefit Black Lives Matter.

TOPS: Donating 100% of profits on Friday to Black Lives Matter LA and Hoodstock Montreal.

Rock Action Records (who recently added new music to Bandcamp from Mogwai and Errors, and who are putting out two 65daysofstatic releases on Friday including a Mogwai remix) are donating 100% of profits on Friday to Black Lives Matter UK.

Arrowhawk Records “is giving 100% of the label’s portion of all digital sales to Athens Area Anti-Discrimination Movement (community organizing and bail funds) and is allowing their artists to decide on an individual basis what to do with theirs. 100% of Jeffrey Silverstein’s ‘You Become The Mountain’ digital will go to Portland Freedom Fund and National Bail Out.”

Ba Da Bing are donating to Brooklyn Community Foundation and doing a price match, “Where if people send us proof of giving at least $150 to a bunch of organizations we’ll be listing, we’ll send them the album of their choice as a gift.”

Barsuk Records “has pledged 100% of the money we receive from this Friday’s Bandcamp artist-support day to our artists. We are also planning on matching those funds with a donation to Campaign Zero, in addition to donations and action to support locally-focused Northwest antiracism groups working to address systemic racism and stop police brutality.”

Bayonet are donating half of their share to Black Visions Collective and Reclaim the Block.

Community Records say, “100% of everything we make is going to two New Orleans based Black & Brown owned and organized nonprofits: TAKE ’EM DOWN NOLA and Innocence Project New Orleans.”

Dais Records are donating 100% of sales to National Bailout Fund, Reclaim The Block, NAACP Legal Defense & Education Fund, The Bail Project, Black Visions Collective MN, and Black Lives Matter.

Don Giovanni Records are donating to ActBlue’s community bail funds fundraiser.

Joyful Noise are donating their portion of all sales to the Justice for Breonna Taylor fund, the Movement 4 Black Lives, and the ACLU of Indiana Foundation.

Ninja Tune is donating its share of sales to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.

Orindal Records “will be donating its share of June 5 Bandcamp revenue to bail bonds funds & organizations supporting the protests. The artists’ shares will be delivered to the artists on June 6 so they can donate to their own preferred charities.”

Pelican are releasing an EP of non-album tracks to benefit Color of Change.

Suicide Squeeze is donating its profits to the Nationwide Bail Fund.

Polyvinyl Records is sharing 100% of all digital revenue with their artists and donating $5 of every physical order to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. They’ll also be donating 100% of profits from a new Polyvinyl Pride t-shirt to the LGBTQ+ Freedom Fund.

Arbutus are donating 100% of their profits on Friday to the Black Health Alliance.

Shilpa Ray is donating 100% of her proceeds from Friday to Black Lives Matter.

Infant Island are releasing a compilation of rarities to benefit the Richmond Community Bail Fund, and related band Mattachine‘s new EP will also benefit local bail and legal funds.

Half Waif is donating 100% of her profits from Friday to Campaign Zero, the Breonna Taylor Memorial Fund, and the National Bail Fund Network.

Sondre Lerche is donating 50% of his album sales from Friday to White People 4 Black Lives / SURJ Affiliate Los Angeles.

Owen Pallett is donating 100% of his Bandcamp income from June 5 to June 19 to legal defense funds and Toronto-based initiatives.

Tomberlin says, “i’m going to donate all the merch sales i make on june [5] to the louisville bail fund in honor of breonna tayor. fellow musicians- i urge you to donate a portion of $ made through bandcamp day to help bail out protestors.”

Moor Mother is donating all proceeds from her album Fetish Bones on Bandcamp on Friday to bail funds.

Hop Along are donating 100% of profits to Amistad Law Project.

Lame-O Records are giving 100% of physical royalties to the Philly Bail Fund.

Pure Noise Records are donating all proceeds to the Peoples City Council Freedom Fund.

Jherek Bischoff is donating 100% of his profits from Friday to Black Futures Lab and Southern Poverty Law Center.

Converge are donating 100% of their Bandcamp sales to a different non-profit they support each week. This week it’s the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund.

Wye Oak are donating all proceeds from their Bandcamp sales on Friday to the Durham, NC chapter of BYP100.

Burger Records are donating all sales from Friday and matching them dollar for dollar, with proceeds going to Color of Change.

Best Coast are donating 100% of the proceeds from their Bandcamp sales on Friday to the Los Angeles Action Bail Fund led by Black Lives Matter LA.

La Dispute are matching all proceeds from sales on Bandcamp on Friday, and donating to the Grand Rapids Area Mutual Aid Network.

Thao and The Get Down Stay Down are donating all proceeds from Friday sales on Bandcamp to Survived and Punished, Southerners On New Ground and The Movement for Black Lives.

Carpark Records are donating all label proceeds from Bandcamp sales on Friday to Black Lives Matter DC.

Ava Luna are donating 100% of Bandcamp proceeds from Friday, including pay-as-you-wish older albums and merch, to the Movement for Black Lives.

Equal Vision Records are releasing test pressings to benefit Equal Justice Initiative.

Pink Siifu is selling his recently-released album NEGRO on cassette with 50% of proceeds going “directly to causes and organizations fighting tha fight on different levels in Los Angeles Oakland and New York City.”

She Keeps Bees are donating all money from Bandcamp sales on Friday to ActBlue, to split between 13 different organizations fighting for racial justice.

Weakened Friends are donating 100% of proceeds from Bandcamp on Friday to a bail fund for protestors in cities across the US.

Palehound are donating 100% of their Bandcamp sales on Friday to the Louisville Community Bail Fund.

Low are donating 100% of their Bandcamp proceeds on Friday to NAACP Duluth.

Kero Kero Bonito uploaded their whole discography to Bandcamp and are donating all the income they make from it on Friday to the Legal Defense Fund.
