20 New Metal & Hardcore Songs Out This Week

Another week in isolation has gone by. How are you all holding up? For some heavy music to help get you through, we recently recommended five great rewatchable metal livestreams and the Invisible Oranges staff highlighted four classic heavy albums that are helping them deal. There’s also plenty of new music. Today, I reviewed the killer new Wake LP in Notable Releases, and you can also head to IO’s Upcoming Metal Releases to read about new records from Candlemass, Solothus, Temple of Void, Omega Infinity, WuW, Magic Sword, Telepathy, Loose Sutures, Igorrr, Mamaleek, and more.

And that’s not all. We also got new singles this week from Kreator, Ulcerate, Cirith Ungol, Brutus, Lingua Ignota, Xibalba, WVRM, END, Barishi, and more. Keep scrolling for all the heavy songs we posted this week…

KREATOR – “666 – WORLD DIVIDED”

German thrash legends Kreator have been talking about a followup to 2017’s Gods of Violence and though most details on that are still TBA, they just returned with the new single “666 – World Divided.” Read more here.

ULCERATE – “DISSOLVED ORDERS”

New Zealand atmospheric metal genre-defiers have shared another gargantuan-sounding song off the anticipated Stare Into Death and Be Still (due 4/24 via Debemur Morti Productions).

CIRITH UNGOL – “BEFORE TOMORROW”

Heavy metal/hard rock legends Cirith Ungol have shared a second single off their first album in 29 years, and it’s another dose of badassery that fits in nicely with the band’s classic material but sounds fresh today too.

BRUTUS – “SAND”

Belgian post-hardcore trio Brutus are back with a typically awesome new single that you can read more about here.

LINGUA IGNOTA – “O RUTHLESS GREAT DIVINE DIRECTOR”

Fresh off releasing a harsh noise rework of “Imagine,” Lingua Ignota is back with an original, much less abrasive song, “O Ruthless Great Divine Director.” It’s her own weird version of a piano ballad, and it features contributions from former Liturgy drummer Greg Fox.

XIBALBA – “EN LA OSCURIDAD”

LA metalcore staples Xibalba will release their fourth album, Años en infierno, on May 29 via Southern Lord, and the first taste is the nasty as all hell “En La Oscuridad.” “The song will beat the shit out of you. We chose the song because we felt it was our hardest song and one that would get stuck in your head,” the band told Decibel. Indeed.

WVRM – “ANGEL OF ASSASSINATION”

South Carolina grinders WVRM are a week away from releasing Colony Collapse on Prosthetic, and today they’ve unleashed another shit-kicker from it.

END – “PARIAH”

END is the supergroup of vocalist Brendan Murphy (Counterparts), guitarist Will Putney (of Fit For An Autopsy and producer for Knocked Loose, Vein, Every Time I Die, and tons of other cool bands), guitarist Gregory Thomas (ex-Misery Signals, ex-Shai Hulud), bassist Jay Pepito (Reign Supreme, ex-Blacklisted), and drummer Billy Rymer (ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan), and they’re following their 2017 debut EP The Unforgiving Arms Of God with their first full-length, Splinters From An Ever-Changing Face, on June 5 via Closed Casket Activities. The first single is “Pariah,” which is an absolutely filthy dose of modern metalcore.

BARISHI – “THE SILENT CIRCLE”

Vermont proggy sludge metallers Barishi have debuted another taste of their anticipated new LP Old Smoke in the form of the 11-minute rager “The Silent Circle.”

BEHOLD THE ARCTOPUS – “BLESSING IN DISGUST”

Metal weirdos Behold the Arctopus are releasing their new album Hapeleptic Overtrove on June 12, and first single “Blessing In Disgust” is as chaotic and unruly as you’d expect.

ESOCTRILIHUM – “EXH-ENÎ SÖPH (1ST PASSAGE: EXILED FROM SANITY)”

French black/death metal one-man-band Esoctrilihum will release his new album Eternity Of Shaog on May 22 via I, Voidhanger Records, and the first taste is this epic eight-minute suite.

THE RUINS OF BEVERAST – “SILHOUETTES OF DEATH’S GRACE”

German black/doom metallers The Ruins Of Beverast released a split EP with Mourning Beloveth, Don’t Walk On The Mass Graves, today via Ván Records. It was preceded earlier this week by this single, which is gloomy and depressive and atmospheric but still manages to have a jagged edge.

HAVOK – “POST-TRUTH ERA”

Thrash revivalists Havok have unleashed the new single “Post-Truth Era,” and in case you were unsure what a song called “Post-Truth Era” was about, you’re in luck: it comes with a lyric video.

TWITCHING TONGUES – “NECROMANTICAL SCREAMS” (CELTIC FROST COVER)

Not only did Twitching Tongues vocalist Colin Young spearhead the video of hardcore vocalists singing Smash Mouth’s “All Star” to parody the celebrity “Imagine” video, the band also just released this cover of Celtic Frost’s “Necomantical Screams.” Twitching Tongues’ version is a little doomier and a little more modern-sounding; they make it their own while keeping the general vibe of the original intact.

WARP CHAMBER – IMPLEMENTS OF EXCRUCIATION

PacNW death metallers Warp Chamber made an impression on Profound Lore with their 2018 demo, and today the label released the band’s filthy debut album.

THREE KNEE DEEP – THREE KNEE DEEP

Tampa’s Three Knee Deep make brash, heavy, ’80s/’90s-style hardcore with absolutely no frills at all, and today they put out their debut LP on Triple B.

CHROME WAVES – “THE ETERNAL” (JOY DIVISION COVER) / GRIDFAILURE – “TEMPLE OF THE MORNING STAR” (TODAY IS THE DAY COVER)

Midwest blackgaze band Chrome Waves and NYC industrial act Gridfailure released a split today with new original songs from each and covers of Joy Division and Today Is The Day, respectively. Here are the covers, which you can read more about here.

FAKE NAMES (mem REFUSED, DAG NASTY, BAD RELIGION, etc) – “BRICK”

Fake Names — the new band fronted by Refused vocalist Dennis Lyxzén that also features Brian Baker (Minor Threat, Dag Nasty, Bad Religion), Michael Hampton (S.O.A., Embrace, One Last Wish) and Johnny Temple (Girls Against Boys, Soulside) — have announced an album for Epitaph and released their first song. Read more here.

WITCH TAINT – “SONS OF SATAN”

Dave Hill’s tongue-in-cheek metal band Witch Taint’s latest single off Sons of Midwestern Darkness (due April 10 via Tee Pee) is “Sons of Satan” which comes with a video featuring a cameo by Pepper Keenan.
