2017 BRIC Jazzfest: lineup and tickets

The third-annual BRIC Jazzfest  takes place October 14 – 21 at BRIC House in Brooklyn, including concerts, film screenings, panel discussions, dance and more. The live music portion of the festival, the BRIC Jazzfest Marathon, will run from October 19-21. and has performances staggered across the BRIC House Ballroom, the Stoop overlooking the Gallery, and a jazz club inside the Artist Studio. One-day tickets and three-day passes are available now.

  • Thursday, October 19: notable performers include the Sun Ra Arkestra led by Marshall Allen, plus Miles Mosley & The West Coast Get Down, Terri Lyne Carrington Band, Binky Griptite Orchestra, Matthew Stevens, and more.
  • Friday, October 20: Regina Carter will be performing her Ella Fitzgerald tribute project, Simply Ella. Other notable performers include Vijay Iyer, Samora Pinderhughes, Theo Croker Escape Velocity, and more.
  • Saturday, October 21:  saxophone great Maceo ParkerGoGo Penguin  performing a new score classic film Koyaanisqatsi, plus Braxton Cook, Matana Roberts, and more.

On the film front, on October 14 & 15 there are free screenings of: Chasing Trane which explores the global impact of the music of John Coltrane and his lasting influence in the jazz world: and I Called Him Morgan, which centers around the tragic 1972 murder of jazz musician Lee Morgan.
