2017 Tribeca Film Fest opening w/ Clive Davis documentary premiere/concert at Radio City ft. Aretha Franklin & more

A documentary about music biz icon Clive Davis is opening the 16th edition of the Tribeca Film Festival , with a gala premiere at Radio City Music Hall on April 19. The documentary, Clive Davis: The Soundtrack of Our Lives, was directed by Chris Perkel follows the impact Davis had on a wide variety of musicians. From the event description:

Few individuals have left a more lasting imprint on the lives of music lovers than Clive Davis. After all, this is the man who first signed Aerosmith in the 1970s, carried Whitney Houston’s angelic, once-in-a-lifetime voice to worldwide prominence, and founded the iconic Bad Boy Records alongside Sean Combs. And that doesn’t even begin to encompass the other artists whose careers he has played a key role in shaping, from Janis Joplin and Barry Manilow to Carly Simon and TLC to Bruce Springsteen and Santana. When it comes to not just knowing but engaging the hearts and minds of listeners, no single person has done it quite as triumphantly than Davis.

The premiere will be followed by a concert featuring Aretha Franklin, Jennifer Hudson, Earth, Wind & Fire and others TBA. No word on ticket info yet but expect details when TFF announces their full film lineup in early March. The 2017 Tribeca Film Festival runs April 19 – 30.

Meanwhile, Aretha Franklin  is the subject of this year’s Michael Dorf-presented tribute show at Carnegie Hall, happening March 6. Tickets are still available.
