2020 Emmy Nominations: Beastie Boys, Trent Reznor, RZA, Kamasi Washington, more

The 2020 Emmy Nominations are out and HBO’s Watchmen leads the pack with a whopping 26 nominations, including Best Limited Series, six actor nominations, and one for Trent Reznor & Atticus Rossscore.

Other big multiple nominees are: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (20), Ozark (18), Succession (18), The Mandalorian (15), Schitt’s Creek (15), Saturday Night Live (15), and The Crown (13). Netflix got the most nominations of any network with 160.

This year’s Outstanding Drama Series nominations are Better Call Saul, The Mandalorian, The Crown, The Handmaid’s Tale, Killing Eve, Ozark, and Stranger Things.

Outstanding Comedy Series nominations are Curb Your Enthusiasm, Dead to Me, The Good Place, Insecure, The Kominsky Method, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Schitt’s Creek and What We Do In the Shadows.

In addition to Reznor & Ross,  Kamasi Washington was nominated for his score for Netflix documentary Becoming, and Devo’s Mark Mothersbaugh was nominated for his Tiger King score. RZA was nominated for his theme to Wu Tang: An American Saga and, Ólafur Arnalds were nominated for the main title theme for Defending JacobLabrinth got two nominations for HBO’s Euphoria: Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score) and Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics.

Beastie Boys Story, which was directed by Spike Jonze, is up for five 2020 Emmys this month, including Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special, and Outstanding Writing for a Nonfiction Special (Mike D, Ad Rock, Spike Jonze).

This year’s Emmys happen September 20 at 8:00 PM ET and will be a virtual ceremony with host Jimmy Kimmel.
