ULCERATE – “STARE INTO DEATH AND BE STILL”

New Zealand’s Ulcerate will release their sixth album, Stare Into Death and Be Still, on April 24 via Debemur Morti Productions, and going by the eight and a half minute title track, their unique blend of death, black, sludge, and atmosphere sounds as killer as ever. Listen below.

GREG PUCIATO (ex-DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN) – “FIRE FOR WATER”

Greg Puciato, frontman of the now-defunct Dillinger Escape Plan (and the dark synthpop band The Black Queen and the supergroup Killer Be Killed), is releasing his first-ever solo album, Child Soldier: Creator of God, this summer and first single “Fire For Water” is out now. Read more here.

WVRM – “YEARS OF LEAD”

WVRM’s new single off their upcoming Colony Collapse (due 4/3 via Prosthetic) is part grind, part death, part sludge… whatever subgenre you call it, shit is filthy.

ABORTED – “GLOOM AND THE ART OF TRIBULATION”

Speaking of WVRM, Belgian death metal vets Aborted (who are touring with Napalm Death, WVRM, and Tombs this year) have unleashed this new ripper off their upcoming EP La Grande Mascarade, due April 17 via Century Media.

TESTAMENT – “CHILDREN OF THE NEXT LEVEL”

Thrash legends Testament have shared another single off their upcoming Titans of Creation, and it’s another classic-Testament-sounding dose of face-melting thrash.

BODY COUNT – “POINT THE FINGER” (ft. POWER TRIP’S RILEY GALE)

Body Count’s new album is out (read about it here), and a big highlight is this song featuring Power Trip frontman Riley Gale.

CAUSTIC WOUND – “BLACK BAG ASPHYXIATION” & “URANIUM DECAY”

Pacific Northwest deathgrinders (whose lineup includes members of MORTIFERUM, Cerebral Rot, Fetid, and Magrudergrind) are releasing their debut album Death Posture on April 10 via Profound Lore, and they’re streaming two murky, grimy, eardrum-busting tracks from it now.

THOMAS V. JÄGER (MONOLORD) – “A SOLITARY PLAN”

Thomas V. Jäger, frontman of Swedish doomers Monolord, is releasing his debut solo album A Solitary Plan on May 8 via RidingEasy Records and he’s streaming the title track from it now. It’s an earthy, acoustic folk song (with some ethereal embellishments in the background) and Thomas is as good at this kind of thing as he is at doom.

…AND OCEANS – “VIGILANCE AND ATROPHY”

Finnish black metal vets …and Oceans (who are closely related to Finnish death metal vets Festerday) have shared another track off their upcoming first album in 18 years, and like the first single, it’s truly killer stuff that makes it feel like they never left.

PLAGUE YEARS – “PLAY THE VICTIM”

Michigan death-y crossover thrashers Plague Years are releasing their debut album Circle of Darkness on May 22 via eOne, and they’re streaming the whiplash-inducing “Play the Victim” today. Fans of anything from Slayer to Power Trip to Creeping Death, take note.

CALLIGRAM – “VIVIDO PERIRE”

UK black metallers Calligram’s debut album The Eye Is the First Circle drops April 10 via Prosthetic, and new single “Vivido Perire” is genuinely vicious.

CONSTRICT – “NO EDEN”

LA metallic hardcore crew Constrict (whose lineup includes members of Vamachara, Forced Order, God’s Hate, Disgrace and more) have shared the title track off their upcoming No Eden EP, which drops 3/20 via Flatspot. ‘Tis a certified, grade A slapper.

Philly punks Soul Glo are back with a menacing, whiplash-inducing new single.

TOTAL MELTDOWN – “EMBRACE IT”

Total Meltdown is a new band featuring Chris Enriquez (On the Might of Princes, Supertouch, Criteria, Shai Hulud, Spotlights, Primitive Weapons, more), and they’re streaming the very NYHC-sounding “Embrace It” from their upcoming self-titled EP. “It is all about accepting the fact that you are not in control of everything happening in your life,” vocalist Ralph Torres told No Echo.
