24 New Songs Out Today
So many artists, so little time. Each week we review five new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, show recaps, track premieres, and more all day. That includes a lot of tour announcements, a list of tonight’s NYC shows, and NY shows that just went on sale. We publish a monthly playlist of some of our favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place…
GHOSTFACE KILLAH & RZA - "ON THAT SHT AGAIN"
The Wu-Tang Clan are having a very busy year, and that includes the release of their new Showtime documentary Of Mics and Men and the accompanying soundtrack EP that drops this Friday. Ghostface and RZA have now shared "On That Sht Again" from that EP, and it's a head-nodding throwback to the Wu's classic '90s era, and it sounds just about as fired-up as they did back then.
EARTH - "THE MANDRAKE'S HYMN"
AMINE - "PLACES + FACES FREESTYLE"
Aminé has been blowing up fast and touring the world, and now he released a new freestyle about his new lifestyle featuring lots of footage from his travels, both on and off stage. It's a fun, celebratory song, and Aminé has definitely earned his bragging rights.
THE SIDEKICKS - "PEOPLE'S COURT"
The Sidekicks are gearing up for a tour with their Epitaph labelmates The Menzingers, and ahead of that they've released this song which sees them exploring a softer, folkier side than usual.
SHANNON LAY - "SOMETHING ON YOUR MIND" (KAREN DALTON COVER)
Shannon Lay signed to Sub Pop and celebrated by releasing a Karen Dalton cover. “The version that Karen Dalton does is a gorgeous piece of wisdom. I wanted to cover it because I believe in the message with all my heart. Life is going to knock you down and lift you up and you’ll never experience any of it unless you try. I love the idea of spreading that spirit further. If there’s something on your mind, let it out. Try even if there’s a possibility you’ll fail, you might learn something amazing about yourself,” Shannon says.
LONDON ON DA TRACK & G-EAZY - "THROW FITS" (ft. CITY GIRLS, JUVENILE)
London On Da Track and G-Eazy channel New Orleans bounce on their new collaborative single, and they've brought in the rising City girls and New Orleans vet Juvenile to help them out. The song sounds as much like a party as the video looks.
STEF CHURA - "SWEET SWEET MIDNIGHT" (FT. CAR SEAT HEADREST)
Car Seat Headrest's Will Toledo produced and plays on Stef Chura's new album, Midnight, but it's on this duet where his presence is most obviously felt. "The chorus and guitar riff are something I had been playing with for a while after a close friend of mine died," Stef says. "We built the song off of the chorus keeping the theme of death, light and dreaming. While we were in the studio Will had a dream about Taylor Swift singing a song called 'Jordi' and that became the muse of the songs verses. One of my favorite moments from making this record was when we recorded the yelling section of this song."
KEEP SHELLY IN ATHENS - SUNNY DAY (EP STREAM)
Ethereal Greek group Keep Shelly in Athens, whose last record was 2017's Philokalia, have just released this new EP featuring five blissed-out cuts of danceable electronic pop.
DIZZY - "TWIST"
Canada's Dizzy released their debut album, Baby Teeth, last year, and they're preparing a new EP, title tba, to release this summer on Communion Records. As vocalist Katie Munshaw told The Line of Best Fit, new single "'Twist' is really about missing someone so badly that you see them places and get really excited, and then realise it’s not them. It's about the hold someone can have over you even after they've left your life."
JARV IS (JARVIS COCKER) - "MUST I EVOLVE?"
Jarvis Cocker says his new project, JARV IS, is supposed to be "experienced live" but until he brings it to a stage near you, this killer six-and-a-half-minute psych jam has all the things you want from a Jarvis song: whispered breakdowns, impassioned cries, and mentions of Frankie Knuckles. Yes, yes, yes, yes.
LUST FOR YOUTH - "NEW BALANCE POINT"
Those who lust for '80s moody electropop may already be anxious for the new self-titled record from this Scandinavian duo, which is out June 7 via Sacred Bones. Here's another anthemic, danceable single from the record.
AS CITIES BURN - "HOLLOWED OUT"
Back-in-action post-hardcore band As Cities Burn have shared a third single off their upcoming first album in 10 years, and this one sees them picking up where their more experimental, genre-defying side left off a decade ago.
YOUNGHUSBAND - "MODERN LIE"
Euan Hinshelwood's group Younghusband will soon be back with a new album of dreamy guitar pop, and this is one of its standout cuts. "Modern Lie" is the most immediate song on the LP, with an earworm keyboard hook set to a driving, motorik beat.
FLOWER - "NAMES" & "TALK"
Before forming Versus, Richard and Ed Baluyut played in NYC indie rock band Flower, who traveled in similar noisy circles to Sonic Youth and Swans and released two albums and an EP before calling it quits in 1990. The original lineup of Flower (including bassist Ian James and drummer Andrew Bordwin) have gotten back together a few times this decade, but recently began working on new music and are now getting ready to release their first new music in 29 years. The first taste are these two songs from a tour-flexi they'll have on the road with Sebadoh.
THE RUBINOOS - "DO YOU REMEMBER?"
Veteran power pop band The Rubinoos, who performed the theme song from Revenge of the Nerds, among other catchy nuggets, will release new album From Home on August 23 via Yep Roc. They made the album with Chuck Prophet of Green on Red and the record was mixed by engineer Paul Q Kolderie who has worked with everyone from Pixies and Dinosaur Jr to Phish and Radiohead. First single "Do You Remember?" finds the band's signature harmonies still in full bloom.
MODERN NATURE - "PERADAM"
Modern Nature is the new group from Jack Cooper (Ultimate Painting, Mazes) and Will Young (BEAK>, Moon Gangs), plus Woods drummer Aaron Neveu, and they've just announced their debut album. This first single has a gentle psych feel that is warm and live and inviting.
BODYWASH - "EYE TO EYE"
Montreal dreampop act Bodywash are set to release their debut album, Comforter, on August 30 via Luminelle (the label run by Chris of music blog Gorilla Vs. Bear). They've just shared new single "Eye to Eye," which is light as a breeze and quite lovely.
JORGE ELBRECHT / REMYNYS - "ONLY GONNA BREAK YOUR HEART"
The ever-busy Jorge Elbrecht has a handful of musical alter egos in addition to his more high-profile production work (Sky Ferreira, Tamaryn), including REMYNYS, who have just shared this bouncy new song. He's getting ready to tour Europe opening for Kurt Vile and will release this as part of a tour-only mix-CD featuring other new music (and tracks by others he likes).
THE F-16s - "MY BABY'S BEAK"
Hailing from Chennai, India', The F16s mix dreampop and classic '60s influences together on their new EP, WKND FRNDS. "My Baby's Beak" takes a little doo-wop and takes it to new, effervescent places.
PASSION PIT & GALANTIS - "I FOUND U"
Passion Pit's first new song in two years is a collaboration with Galantis, and you can read more about it here.
BARONESS - "THROW ME AN ANCHOR"

CHARLI XCX - "BLAME IT ON YOUR LOVE" (ft. LIZZO)
Alt-pop icon Charli XCX is back with a new single, the very catchy "Blame It On Your Love," and it features a rapped verse from Lizzo who's in fine form on this one.
