1 dead, 3 injured in shooting at T.I.'s Irving Plaza show (Troy Ave arrested)

T.I. is currently in NYC on his tour playing Irving Plaza tonight (5/25), and NBC reports that a shooting took place at his concert. Three people were shot and taken to Bellevue Hospital, one of which is a man in life-threatening condition. The conditions of the other two are not yet known. CBS adds that the victims include a man who was shot in the chest, and a woman who was shot in the leg. NBC also mentions that the “circumstances behind the shooting weren’t immediately clear,” and that no arrests have been made. XXL points out that the building was evacuated by police after the shooting.

UPDATE: NY1 now reports that NYPD say at least four were shot. Stay tuned for more updates.

UPDATE 2: The NY Times confirms that four were shot, three men and one women, and that one of the men was killed.

UPDATE 3: Irving Plaza has issued the following statement: “The safety of our guests is of the utmost importance. Until we have further details about what transpired, we are referring all inquiries to the NYPD.”

The Times also spoke to crowd member Ayo Fagbemi, who said, “Right when [T.I.] was about to go on, I heard two gunshots and right after there was a stampede. There were at least three rounds after, but after the second one was when people started running.”

UPDATE 4: ABCNY7 reports that New York rapper Troy Ave was one of the men who was shot (he’s expected to recover). Maino and Uncle Murda were reportedly on stage when the shooting started.

UPDATE 5: Billboard reports that the man who was killed was Troy Ave’s bodyguard B$B Banga (real name Ronald McPhatter).

UPDATE 6: PIX11 reports that Troy Ave has now been taken into custody, according to police sources. Police released a video of the shooting today.
