So many artists, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, show recaps, track premieres, and more all day. That includes a lot of tour announcements, a list of tonight’s NYC shows, and NY shows that just went on sale. We publish a monthly playlist of some of our favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place…

JIM BOB (CARTER USM) - "2020 WTF!"

Jim Bob, who is one half of '90s-era UK duo Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine, has just release a 26-second punk ripper that is screaming into the abyss that is this year. "I wrote 2020 WTF! at the end of 2019," says Jim Bob. "Back then I made an educated guess that the things that seemed so awful and negative – terrorism, war, knife and gun crime, school shootings, toxic masculinity, polarised opinion on social media etc – wouldn’t miraculously disappear with the final bongs, fireworks and boogie-woogie piano notes of the New Year." He continues: "So I took a punt and included the song on what will be my new album (out later this year). I’d always planned on releasing '2020 WTF!' as a single around about now. Little did I know how lacking of a third verse it might end up sounding. How elephanty in the room it is. But the sentiment in the song remains the same. Uplifting and moving songs at difficult times are great. ‘Imagine’ and ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ do their trick just fine. But sometimes what you need is 26 seconds of punk rock discombobulation and despair to scream at the wall." Hear hear!

S.G. GOODMAN - "RED BIRD MORNING"

S.G. Goodman's new Jim James-produced album, Old Time Feeling, is due out May 29, and she's shared a second single from it. "Red Bird Morning" has a rich, warm twang that's intimate and addictive. "At a time when I was going through the wrong turns my failed relationship had taken," she writes, "my mind was brought back to the roads that led me to Cannonball, North Dakota. Through the imagery of that voyage, I was able to capture the feeling of a different forlorn journey. The Standing Rock Protest was a prayer protest, and upon arriving at the camp, my job was to help thaw out wood for the sacred fire. I remember being prayed over, and praying in my own way for the first time in years. The experience was transformative not only by joining others in a valid cause, but in what it sparked in my personal spiritual life."
