It was cloudy but mercifully cool on Saturday (7/9) for the 2016 edition of the Village Voice 4Knots Music Festival which returned to South Street Seaport after a weird 2015 edition on the Hudson. Guided by Voices headlined the main stage which stuck mostly to indie rock, with Protomartyr, Car Seat Headrest (who clearly have a lot of devoted fans already), Athens, GA’s terrific Mothers, Pro Era rapper Kirk Night and Nashville’s Promised Land Sound. (Toronto’s Lumineers-esque folk-pop act The Strumbellas seemed a little out of place here, especially in between Protomartyr and GbV.) Girlpool headlined the smaller Fulton Stage which also saw sets from Mild High Club, Diane Coffee, Bayonne, and Boulevards.

Guided by Voices’ setlist and video are here, and check out pics from the entire 2016 4Knots fest in the gallery above.
