40 Watt burglary suspect arrested, then died while out on bond
You may remember that Athens, GA’s famed 40 Watt Club was burglarized a couple weeks back, with someone making off with a lot of their PA gear (valued at around $20,000). The story has taken some twists and turns since. On August 1, the Athens-Clarke County Police Department arrested Michael Simpson Wilson, 36, who had been a contractor at the 40 Watt, after he tried to sell some of the allegedly stolen gear to a Guitar Center in in Greenville, South Carolina. Police also found more equipment that belonged to the 40 Watt in Wilson’s home. 80% of the stolen gear has been recovered. After being released on bond, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Wilson died on August 3. The official obituary listed no cause of death.
