NYC's free, all-ages 4Knots Music Festival went down across two stages at the South Street Seaport. On the main stage (Pier 16), Radkey kicked things off with their classic-style punk, and (as you can see in the video below) at one point the PA cut out but they just kept rocking. Northampton indie rockers Speedy Ortiz followed with a set that stretched as far back as their early pre-Sports single "Taylor Swift" up through their brand new "Bigger Party" which came out the day before the festival. Ex-Women band Viet Cong followed with a set of their jammy post-punk.
Those Darlins were fun, peppering their set with covers (The Crystals' "Then He Kissed Me" and Dylan's "The Man In Me"). If anyone was going to fall into the river during 4Knots, it would've been during Mac DeMarco's set, but he kept things fairly shenanigan-free. Dinosaur Jr. capped off the evening with an enjoyable and hit-packed set (that is how you Festival, bands) that had a pit/crowdsurfers going the whole time (video of that below).
The other stage was the Front/Row stage over on Fulton St (not exactly where they set up for Seaport Music Festival but almost) with a handful of smaller acts, including day openers and '90s-loving Dead Stars, plus Crazy Pills, Juan Wauters, and heartland rockers Nude Beach. Pictures from their sets, and more of the rest of 2014 4Knots fest, below....
