5 Billion in Diamonds (Butch Vig / Ebbot of TSOOL) prep new LP -- stream a track

When not busy with Garbage or producing other groups, Butch Vig spearheads 5 Billion in Diamonds, an electronic-tinged psych-rock supergroup that includes The Soundtrack of Our LivesEbbot Lundberg, Bristol UK producer Andy Jenks and DJ James Grillo. The band released their self-titled debut in 2017 and are putting the finishing touches on their second album.

While we wait for more details on LP#2, here’s a new single, “Divine Accidents,” a chiming, soaring rock song that is not too far from the music Ebbot made with TSOOL that also features The Ocean Blue‘s David Schelzel (who also appeared on the band’s first album). It’s just over a minute long but that’s more than enough time to implant its earworm hooks in your brain. The video for “Diving Accidents” premieres in this post and you can watch below.

5 Billion in Diamonds’ debut album, which was inspired by the soundtrack to ’60s film The Thomas Crown Affair, also featured Sean Cook and Damon Reece (Spiritualized, Massive Attack and Elizabeth Fraser) and singers Sandra Dedrick (The Free Design) and Helen White (Alpha). You can listen to that below, too.
