7 New Rap and R&B Songs Out This Week

Even with the holiday slowing down the music industry this week, there’s still a good amount of new hip hop, including new projects from Smoke DZA & Curren$y, Paul Wall & Statik Selektah, and the Griselda crew, plus new singles from The Weeknd, City Girls, Koffee/Gunna, The Cool Kids, Valee, and more. Read on for all the hip hop and R&B we posted on BV this week…

THE WEEKND – “HEARTLESS” & “BLINDING LIGHTS”

The Weeknd is back with two new songs: the Metro Boomin-produced “Heartless” which isn’t far removed from the type of sad, druggy R&B he became known for at the beginning of this decade, and the very ’80s pop-sounding “Blinding Lights.”

CITY GIRLS – “YOU TRIED IT”

City Girls have dropped their second new single since JT was released from prison, and it comes with a twerk-filled video, but it’s not just a party song. It’s pretty menacing stuff too.

KOFFEE – “W” (ft. GUNNA)
Grammy-nominated rising reggae singer Koffee follows her great Rapture EP with the new song/video “W,” featuring a church choir and Atlanta rapper Gunna. Read more about it here.

THE COOL KIDS – “POP QUIZ” (ft. GUAPDAD 4000)

Long-running indie-rap duo The Cool Kids have teamed up with Guapdad 4000 for this undeniably fun new song.

VALEE – “JAY LENO”

Valee left a huge mark on hip hop last year with his oft-imitated flow and his great single “Womp Womp.” Now he’s back with another new loosie, “Jay Leno.”

QUANDO RONDO – “MARVELOUS” (ft. POLO G)

Rising rappers Quando Rondo and Polo G team up for some heavily melancholic sing-rapping.
