8 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so little time. Each week we review five new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, show recaps, track premieres, and more all day. That includes a lot of tour announcements, a list of tonight’s NYC shows, and NY shows that just went on sale. We publish a monthly playlist of some of our favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place…

MEEK MILL – “OODLES O’ NOODLES BABIES” / “UPTOWN VIBES”
Meek Mill is prepping a new LP Championships (due next week), his first since being released from prison earlier this year. He’s promoting it with a pair of singles, “Oodles O’ Noodles Babies” and “Uptown Vibes.” The former showcases the rapper’s aggressive flow over an elegant sample (which he also performed on Fallon), while the latter features Fabolous and Puerto Rican rapper Anuel AA, with a slight reggaeton influence.

PKEW PKEW PKEW – 65 NICKELS

Loud, anthemic punks Pkew Pkew Pkew recently signed to Dine Alone Records, and they’ve just shared this melodic new single about “the worst coin in the coin jar.” It’s just as catchy and mosh-ready as much of their past work, and it packs a big punch over its two-minute running time.

MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA AND THE FRONT BOTTOMS – ALLENTOWN

Manchester Orchestra and The Front Bottoms are currently embarking on a joint tour across North America (including two shows at Brooklyn Steel), and they’ve just shared this collaborative single, which would make a welcome addition to their tour setlists. Stream it over at Manchester Orchestra’s website.

KELLY ROWLAND – “KELLY”

Destiny’s Child’s second most famous member Kelly Rowland returns with her first solo single in five years, and she’s clearly embracing a larger trap influence this time around, complete with bold, braggadocio lyrics.

JOEY BADA$$, KIRK KNIGHT, AND CJ FLY – “KNOW THE RULES”

Pro Era just re-released their 2012 mixtape Peep The Aprocalypse, and the updated version features this new track, which partially pays tribute to former member Capital STEEZ, who tragically passed away shortly before the tape’s initial release.

1982 (STATIK SELEKTAH & TERMANOLOGY) – “STILL”

Producer Statik Selektah and rapper Termanology (collectively known as 1982) released Still 1982, their first album together in six years, and they’ve also shared a video for the single “Still,” which shows the duo driving through Havana. Watch the video, and stream Still 1982 in full, below.

DIPSET & THE LOX – “DIPSET / LOX”

Dipset’s first album in 14 years is finally here (read our review) and one of the highlights is a collab with fellow reunited New York rap vets The LOX, where both groups trade verses over a head-nodding, throwback beat from Cool & Dre. If you’re partial to the sound of late ’90s / early ’00s New York rap, this is about as stacked a posse cut as you’ll get in 2018.
