9 New Metal Songs Out This Week

Among this week’s new metal albums are the Liturgy and Abigail Williams, both of which I wrote about in Notable Releases, and you can also read about new albums from The Deathtrip, Despised Icon, and more over at Invisible Oranges’ Upcoming Metal Releases. This week also gave us metal (and metal adjacent) singles from Deathwhite, Loma Prieta, Envy, Foreseen, blackQueen, Domkraft (ft. Mark Lanegan), Leeched, Division of Mind, and more. Read on for all the heavy jams we posted on BV this week…

DEATHWHITE – “FURTHER FROM SALVATION”

Pittsburgh gothic metallers Deathwhite are releasing their sophomore album, Grave Image, on January 31 via Season of Mist, and if you dig dark metal with soaring, melodic clean vocals in the vein of Katatonia or Paradise Lost, “Further From Salvation” should be right up your alley.

LOMA PRIETA – “CONTINUUM”

Loma Prieta are back with their first new song in four years, and it sees them going in more of a melodic, shoegazy direction than usual. Read more about it here.

ENVY – “A STEP IN THE MORNING GLOW”

Japanese screamo vets Envy are releasing their first album in five years this February, and its first proper single is out now. Read more here.

FORESEEN – “WIDE AWAKE NIGHTMARE”

Finnish crossover thrashers Foreseen have released a new two-song single, featuring the previously released “Infiltrator” and the new “Wide Awake Nightmare.” ‘Tis a ripper.

BLACKQUEEN – “FEED THE WORM”

San Francisco’s blackQueen were formed in 1998 by Pete Jay, bassist of defunct grind legends Assück (and also of Wormwood), and they released some demos, a split, and a mini-LP before taking a long break and returning for their first-ever full-length album in 2012. Now they’re set to release their third album, and you can read more about its new single “Feed The Worm” here.

DOMKRAFT – “WHERE WE PART WAYS” (ft. MARK LANEGAN, MARTY HARVEY, LEA ALAZAM)

Domkraft are releasing the Slow Fidelity EP next week (11/22), and today they shared its 13-minute single featuring guest vocals by the legendary Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees, Queens of the Stone Age, etc), Marty Harvey (Slomatics), and Lea Alazam (Besvarjelsen). It’s the kind of trippy psych jam you’ll want to get your lava lamps out for, and Mark Lanegan says, “Guesting on this song by Domkraft was fun, the kind of music I don’t get a chance to sing on that often. It reminds me of the music of my youth.” Listen at Decibel.

LEECHED – “EARTH AND ASH”

Manchester, UK metallic hardcore trio Leeched are releasing their sophomore album, To Dull The Blades Of Your Abuse, on January 31 via Prosthetic, and the intense, jackhammering “Earth and Ash” is the first single.

DIVISION OF MIND – “E X I T”

Richmond’s Divison of Mind are releasing their self-titled debut album on December 6 via Triple B Records, and lead single “E X I T” is dark, intense, thrashy hardcore with a hint of psychedelia in the mix too.

CASPIAN – “FLOWERS OF LIGHT”

Massachusetts post-rockers Caspian announced their first album in over four years, and you can read more about the gorgeous lead single here.
