A.A. Williams announces debut LP ft. Cult of Luna & Wild Beasts members, shares song

Dark singer/songwriter A.A. Williams has been on the rise since making her live debut at Roadburn 2019 and then releasing a great self-titled EP and collaborative single with MONO, and today she announced her debut full-length album, Forever Blue, due July 3 via Bella Union (pre-order). The album features guest vocals from Cult of Luna members Johannes Persson and Fredrik Kihlberg, and Wild Beasts’ Tom Fleming, and A.A.’s backing band on the album was bassist Thomas Williams (her husband) and veteran session drummer Geoff Holroyde.

The album’s first single is “All I Asked For (Was To End it All),” which comes with a video of animated drawings by Craig Murray, and it’s a very promising first single that pulls from goth, folk, post-rock, and blends it all together in appealingly dark ways. Listen and watch the video below.

A.A also points out that the album title was named after a song from the sessions that didn’t make the final cut for the LP, but that “still encapsulated these songs.” “It sounded timeless and in the right place,” she says.

As recently mentioned, A.A. has been doing a quarantine video series that so far includes covers of Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, Nick Cave, and Gordon Lightfoot.
