After cutting ties with Garrison Keillor, NPR’s A Prairie Home Companion has officially been retitled Live From Here, as host Chris Thile informed the audience at NYC’s Town Hall on Saturday (12/16). Thile then said he’d written new music for the show before launching into John Williams iconic Star Wars theme. His band Punch Brothers played the show with special guests Jeff Tweedy, and The Staves & yMusic. The inaugural Live From Here ended with everyone covering The Pogues’ holiday classic, “Fairytale of New York.” You can listen to the whole show over at Live From Here’s website, and watch video of The Punch Brothers below.

Jeff Tweedy also play WFUV’s 2017 Holiday Cheer show at Beacon Theatre on Friday. Might he stick around tonight to play Yo La Tengo’s Hanukkah show at Bowery Ballroom?
