A$AP Ferg playing last-minute NYC show tonight, has a new song with DJ Premier
A$AP Ferg has been having a very busy year, with the release of his own mixtape Still Striving and the A$AP Mob mixtape Cozy Tapes Vol: 2, plus countless live shows in his hometown of NYC, both as a solo artist and with A$AP Mob. Ferg added a last-minute surprise NYC show happening TONIGHT (11/9) at Cielo (18 Little West 12th St). Tickets are on sale.
A$AP Mob also play the NYC edition of Spotify’s “RapCaviar Live” series at Hammerstein Ballroom on November 21 with Dipset (their first show in two years), A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie (who also plays a sold-out NYC show at Terminal 5 tonight) and Don Q. Tickets are still available. After that, Ferg tours Australia. All dates are listed below.
Ferg just dropped a new single a few days ago called “Our Streets,” a collaboration with the legendary DJ Premier. Preemo brings his trademark scratch-laden boom bap-era beats to the table, and Ferg naturally adapted to the throwback production. To quote Preemo, “Ferg just automatically said ‘Don’t do what I’ve been doing on my albums – I want you to do a Preemo style and let me show I can rap to that,’ so I was like ‘let’s do it.’ Everybody was happy off jump – no suggestions, no ‘I think we should go this direction’ – it was an automatic in, out, done, in one day.”
The song is also the first release by the relaunched Payday Records, which was originally founded by Patrick Moxey in 1992 and put out releases by DJ Premier’s group Gang Starr, Jay-Z, Jeru the Damaja, KRS-One, Showbiz & AG, WC, and more. You can listen below.
