ADULT. made us a quarantine playlist featuring "1 hr 47 minutes of delirium"

adult.

Detroit duo ADULT. released Perception is/as/of Deception back in April, which finds their alienated, electro-goth style falling into synch with the pandemic zeitgeist. You can stream the whole thing below.

We’ve been asking artists to tell us about what they’ve been listening to through pandemic quarantine and social distancing, and ADULT. made us a playlist featuring Suicide, Hasil Adkins, Swans, Butthole Surfers, John Cage, The Birthday Party, Ministry, METZ, The Knife, Uniform/The Body, Meredith Monk, Drexciya, and more. It makes for a nice companion piece to their album and, for more, here’s the band:

This playlist feels like a mapping of our (ADULT.) current state of mind. For us, the pandemic has been an emotional rollercoaster. One minute you feel hopeful. The next an existential nightmare. You wake up, you feel good, as long as you didn’t drink too much wine the night before, then you realize the virus is out there. It just keeps spreading & spreading, and your world keeps shifting & falling from the grasp of your hands. You have no control. There’s no one (with any brains) in control. Humankind seems so unkind. So we set out to make a mix for those who are in need of a cathartic exorcism of sorts. An anxiety ridden cluster fuck of sound to help shake those nerves right out of your body. Stay safe! We hope you enjoy this 1 hr 47 minutes of delirium.
